Wat’s Carbon Water-N-Stuff Thread - Concepts In Iron And Wood!!!

Having enjoyed a sweet delicious taste,
And having sometimes tasted what is bitter,
Do not greedily enjoy the sweet taste,
Do not feel aversion toward the bitter.

When touched by pleasant contact, do not be enthralled,
Do not tremble when touched by pain.
Look evenly on both the pleasant and painful,

Not drawn or repelled by anything.

~ Buddha

We give thanks for unknown blessings already on their way.

~ Sacred ritual chant

Gratitude is not only the greatest of virtues, but the parent of all the others.

~ Marcus Tullius Cicero

A happy person is not a person in a certain set of circumstances, but rather a person with a certain set of attitudes.

Life is lived forward but understood backwards

Wisdom is oftentimes nearer when we stoop than when we soar.

Freddie Gray Jr. died 10 years ago yesterday of injuries sustained while in poelease custody. Seems he was in the back of some kind of van of their after having been arrested for possession of "an illegal switchblade knife," which is hardly a gun or much of a charge at all.

From the Sun:

How was he injured?

Police drove with Gray inside the wagon, making multiple stops because they could hear him banging against the sides. He was placed in leg shackles at one stop and eventually put back into the wagon on his stomach, hands cuffed, with his head facing the front. The van also stopped to pick up another man who had been taken into custody. By the time the wagon arrived at the Western District station, its sixth stop, Gray was unconscious. Paramedics were called and, upon arrival, observed that he was not breathing and had blood coming from his nose. According to a DOJ report, “while Gray rode in the rear of the police wagon, he sustained a fatal neck and spinal injury in a manner that is largely unknown,”

When did he die?

Gray was taken to Shock Trauma, where he underwent surgery for three fractured neck vertebrae and a crushed voice box, his family said. He was in a coma for five days before he died on April 19, a week after his arrest.

This is the kind of shit which has made the poelease into the loathsome scum they are generally viewed as today. Anyone who is paying attention needs to do everything in their power to avoid any and all contact with these "people." Your life as a Normal Citizen is on the line every single time you come into contact with one of these government thugs.

"If you're not doing anything, you have nothing to fear." That's a steaming pile of shit. If the cops want you, you'll have done something. One of them will lie and the Thin Blue Line will swear to it.

The notion that a keyboard warrior, who giddily celebrated the election of a police-state dictator, is a modern day savior of the oppressed is absurd.

^^^^^^^^ second best ass cancer candidate on the PolitBuro.

Second place is the first loser, after all.

Remember, kids, 5 out of 4 doctors agree, WDS and the resulting tumors are 100% preventable.

Do you notice how Wat quotes a lot of famous people who would detest having their names associated with a right-wing keyboard warrior who is obsessed with guns, misogyny, violent images, and promoting the death of "liberals"?

He does this in a vain attempt to give his delirium a thin veneer of philosophical legitimacy.

In Buddhism we establish whether a teacher is authentic by whether or not the guidance he or she is giving accords with the teachings of the Buddha. It cannot be stressed too often that it is truth of the teaching which is all-important, and never the personality of the teacher. This is why Buddha reminded us in the "Four reliances":

Rely on the message of the teacher, not on his personality;

Rely on the meaning, not just on the words;

Rely on the real meaning, not just the provisional one;

Rely on your wisdom mind, not on your ordinary, judgmental mind.

Contrary to what some people might believe, there is nothing wrong with having pleasures and enjoyments. What is wrong is the confused way we grasp onto these pleasures, turning them from a source of happiness into a source of pain and dissatisfaction.

~ Lama Thubten Yeshe

If we are facing in the right direction, all we have to do is keep on walking.

Too often we underestimate the power of a touch, a smile, a kind word, a listening ear, an honest compliment, or the smallest act of caring, all of which have the potential to turn a life around.

If you want to lift yourself up, lift up someone else.
