Take away your opinion and there is taken away the complaint , 'I have been harmed.' Take away the complaint, 'I have been harmed,' and the harm is taken away.

Dear Reader,

There’s a lot that death-penalty states don’t want you to know about what goes on inside their execution chambers.

Many of them have laws on the books meant to guarantee anonymity for executioners and drug suppliers, and some have gone to great lengths to obscure the details of how these procedures unfold.

In 2006, depositions in a California trial challenging the state’s lethal-injection protocol revealed that the death chamber was kept so dark in hopes of obscuring the identities of execution staff that they could barely see; one doctor described having to use a flashlight to fill out execution records. In Idaho in the early 2010s, state officials allegedly traveled with a suitcase full of cash to buy lethal-injection drugs from an out-of-state pharmacist delivered in a nighttime parking-lot liaison.

Many states permit some degree of media access to these killings, though that access can be subject to the whims of state corrections departments, and two states—Indiana and Wyoming—do not allow any members of the press to witness executions at all.

For decades, journalists across the country have witnessed executions to provide a record of what awaits those who face death at the hands of the state. For the past several years, I have been among their ranks, and I documented my experience in my recent cover story for The Atlantic.

Read Now

[TD]Though the total number of death sentences carried out in the United States has been in decline for decades, recent years have seen a spike in executions and a restoration of long-disfavored methods of execution. And, though public support for the death penalty is at record lows, the Trump administration appears to believe that executions appeal to people and issued an executive order to resume use of the federal death penalty.

I hope my reporting offers some insight into the realities of capital punishment. My own perspective has evolved over the years, informed both by my journalism and by the murder of my sister in law. This subject is extraordinarily complex. The Atlantic provides a space for stories like mine to unspool in ways that are surprising and, I hope, illuminating.

America is a country born out of rebellion; we literally fought our way to freedom from British rule, and our very independence is forged in blood. All these years later, the gun is – and will always be – both a figurative symbol and literal tool of freedom, independence and self-reliance.

You're talking about America.

Now, when it comes to Amerikkka, the gun is a literal tool of oppression toward minorities and women.

The Fabrique Nationale Model 1949 (often referred to as the FN-49, SAFN, or AFN (automatic rifle version) is an autoloading battle rifle designed by Belgian small arms designer Dieudonné Saive in 1947. It was adopted by the militaries of Argentina, Belgium, the Belgian Congo, Brazil, Colombia, Egypt, Indonesia, Luxembourg, and Venezuela. The selective fire version produced for Belgium was known as the AFN.

While well regarded for its high build quality and reliability in comparison to the rifles of the time, its marketability was limited, as it was not developed in time for use in World War II but later, as many militaries had already begun the switch to selective fire battle rifles. About half of FN-49s were produced as selective fire automatic rifles, but the small 10 round box magazine limited the usefulness of the fully automatic feature.[6]

The FN-49 found itself in direct competition with a number of more modern rifles such as the Heckler & Koch G3 and Fabrique Nationale de Herstal's own FN FAL, resulting in limited sales.

This past weekend a friend of mine showed up with a New York compliant AR-10. There it was, physical proof as to how ignorant politicians can fuck up a perfectly good rifle.

I'll wager it drove trucks.

I reckon that tacks were/are out of the question.

Ordered a couple of more mags for the latest rifle purchase. They said in the ad that there was a spot of damage on the included one. It might be easier to replace than to repair.
