I just heard that we are going to war and I guess I am a little freaked out. There have been rumor that this war will work itself back to american soil. I guess no more than ever I wish all good luck and please be safe. Every one is in my prayers. good luck!!

Feeling a little freaked out?!

Then try imagining how most of the rest of the world is feeling.

(Feeling thoroughly ashamed of my own country's actions, but taking solace in the fact that at least I don't have to live with being an American right now.)

Imagine how the housewives and school kids of Iraq feel......

I am American

and I don't want to go to war but I am far from being ashamed Mr. Ark. Unfortunately we really can't control the actions our goverment chooses to take. So don't even try acting like all Americans are war hungry.

War!

What is it good for?

Absolutely Nothin'!

(Come say it again)

Over 1000 sorties/day in the no fly zone over the weekend- the war began a few days ago. It's just being disguised.

And, while I am very much against the war, I am far from ashamed of my country. I feel the actions are premature. I think we should have waited out the inspections for a while yet. BUT, we didn't. I didn;t vote for Bush, and won't, I hope, that since the die is cast, the war is short, the Iraqis surrender in vast numbers, and there are few casualties.

All, home safe and sound of mind and body.

This is one of the biggest problems with this war. At the end of the day, it's the politicians who are supposed to report to us. In a business setting it's not the delegate who makes the decision, but those who appoint them. Bush and Co. have done an absolutely shitty job and convinceing us that this war is justified and necessary. They choose to remain in the dark, and try to convince us that somehow Iraq was responsible for 9/11.

Things aren't working right.

War!

Children, it's just a shot away!
War, Children, it's just a shot away!

Sag mir, wo die Blumen sind,
wo sind sie geblieben?
Sag mir, wo die Blumen sind,
was ist geschehn?
Sag mir, wo die Blumen sind,
Mädchen pflückten sie geschwind.
Wann wird man je verstehn,
wann wird man je verstehn?
Sag mir, wo die Mädchen sind,
wo sind sie geblieben?
Sag mir, wo die Mädchen sind,
was ist geschehn?
Sag mir, wo die Mädchen sind,
Männer nahmen sie geschwind.
Wann wird man je verstehn,
wann wird man je verstehn?

Sag mir, wo die Männer sind,
wo sind sie geblieben?
Sag mir, wo die Männer sind,
was ist geschehn?
Sag mir, wo die Männer sind,
zogen fort, der Krieg beginnt.
Wann wird man je verstehn,
wann wird man je verstehn?

Sag, wo die Soldaten sind,
wo sind sie geblieben?
Sag, wo die Soldaten sind,
was ist geschehn?
Sag, wo die Soldaten sind,
über Gräbern weht der Wind.
Wann wird man je verstehn,
wann wird man je verstehn?

Sag mir, wo die Gräber sind,
wo sind sie geblieben?
Sag mir, wo die Gräber sind,
was ist geschehn?
Sag mir, wo die Gräber sind,
Blumen wehn im Sommerwind.

Probably relieved, because they are going to get rid of a brutal oppressive dictator and get some human dignity back.

Sorry, but I am ashamed of this country and as a born and bred American, that's something I hate to admit. While it's true that it's our leaders who seem to be the only people who only want this war, that doesn't mean that a lot of us don't share in the blame.

Americans knew in November (before that really) that Bush was committed to this action. We had the opportunity to then to send a message to congress and show how we felt about a war and the politicians that promoted it. And what happened? Half the registered voters didn't even bother going to the polls. What does that say about us as a people, as a country? We want to lead the world, but we can't be bothered picking out our own government?

So yes, I'm ashamed. Not of the people who are committed on either side of this issue and have taken a stand and worked for their beliefs. But of the rest of the American public who just don't seem to give a good goddamn.

What cracks me up is (as the above poster said) that some people are genuinely surprised we are going to war.

Jesus, wake the fuck up boys and girls.

Latest poll posted on CNN said 64% of those polled approved of military action to remove Saddam.

Maybe it's just people that watch TV instead of posting on internet message boards that approve of the war.

Maybe if they got Saddam to go on American Idol...

Things aren't working right.

30% of you have decided not to GET IT no matter what.

In 20 minutes you'll be talking about stealing the election, lack of gravitas, drug use, desertion, and the rape of Elizabeth Smart. You're pretty predictable anymore. Pretty much to the level of the p_p_DonWAVIANS...

Do I think Saddam needs to be ousted? Yes.

Do I think that we need to eradicate weapons from Iraq with almost all means necessary? Yes.

Am I a fan of Bush? No

I am a die-hard Democrat and incredibly liberal. While I do not agree with the means that this whole war situation has been carried out (since 8 months ago) I am behind our President and our troops 100%.

Do I trust Bush's motives? No.

I think that is the main problem in the United States and abroad.

But, regardless of his motives, there is a clear reason to go to war.

I thought his speech was the best of his presidency.
