Wake for Byron: All that and a bag of chips...

Goodbye, friend. Your loss is tragic in this war, and Putin may be celebrating, but the war is not over and we shall carry on. From the depths of the submarine to the intergalactic shocks of the nukes, your loss is felt. I will look for you inside of the sound waves. Please take comfort and peace within the stars.

So judging by Some of the posts in this thread, byron was sick and had been for some. Time? I always suspected something was up with him, but never asked.
If that's the case, I imagine he is in a better place.

As far as he and I knew he was not sick with anything that would kill you. He did drink episodically, but that does not seem to be related to his death.

A better place would be in front a tv with me watching 24, listening to good music and eating nectarines, so no, I disagree.

How does one change the title of a thread?

I don't know but I think if it can be done at all it is a moderator-level function.

You could start a new one and link this one in the first post.

Byron was such a mainstay for my lurking insomniac nights, I'll miss that. Such an ever presence. Rarely did I interact but I often pulled up his youtubes.

I'm drinking wine tonight and rarely drink, but I had to calm the knots and butterflies in my tummy from other reasons...or 'stuff and things'. That was a favorite saying that I liked.

Same here. I was just thinking I might have let him know I watched the last two he posted. No one commented on them. Including me, although I took the time to watch both of them all the way through, even though one was quite long. I think I'll comment on them belatedly. Better late than never.

Edit: I see there were a few comments left on the last one.

Thanks for all the comments and condolences.
In talking with Byron's long time friends, I sometimes wonder why more people don't tell their loved ones how much they mean to them prior to death.

With the Queen and the Princess I try to do it on a daily basis because you never know.

The Queen is a horrid driver and Princess is into competitive equestrian events and you never know when a fatal fall may occur.

The spark of life is a fragile thing, easily extinguished. Each day hundreds of thousands of sparks are ignited and almost as many doused. Most come and go without any notice being taken but every once in a while a spark goes out that leaves the world a little darker and a little colder.

Yes indeed.

If it weren't for your intervention I would never have bothered trying to know him. And I think if you hadn't set him straight he would have continued to pull on my pigtails and we wouldn't have had the laughs.

So thank you. :rose:

For me, the timing of it all sucks, but then again when is it ever a good time to die when you are loved and wanted?

i wonder what what byron would say
about a
truly crazy byron thread
being stuck to the front page of the gb?

I'm so sorry to hear about this.
My condolences to those of you who were close to him!

Nice job making this thread into a sticky, Laurel.

I agree. Regardless of how anyone felt about Byron personally, he was part of the mosaic of the GB for years and the loss changes things for many people.

Personally, I hope he has found peace. I'm sorry for your loss, Noor.

I try to with Grumpy as often as I can. He doesn't appear to appreciate it nor the fragility of a heartbeat or a breath taken, but that's OK because if something happens at least I'll know I told him how much his presence in my life meant.

I'm happy to see so many people posting on this thread. It's too bad Byron can't see what an influence he had. :rose:

One time Byron made me so angry that I went off on a tirade about how important my dad is up me and what I've done to try to preserve what time we have left and I remember him telling me that he wished he had had kids if they would be like me.

This wasn't all that long ago and he still was adept at hurting my feelings on a regular basis so I didn't interact with him but I will always remember what he said with fondness. Sometimes appreciation from a source you consider to be antagonistic means so much more than sweet words from friends.
