What does "Whatever" mean? Why do people say it? Is it another word for "Fuck Off?"

I find it interesting that the letter W is a vowel. When properly enunciated it starts out as a u and then has a transition like a diphthong into the next vowel. This way you can pronounce words like Gwyneth, Myfanwy, Pewter and such.

I'm sure someone from Tirphil will correct me but the first two examples (being Welsh) don't actually have the W pronounced as W and the second is only there to modify the preceding E.
