Yay! And much fun ensues!

I'm afraid I have some bad news. Pokemon Leaf Green was rejected, and it seems that there's no way to fix the situation. Here is what I received from them:

"Hi! Thanks for your submission. We don't post derivative works where the characters or stories with real people that have been aged beyond the age the are in the original work or their current age. Misty, like Ash and other Pokemon minors, never become adults."

So basically, I'm screwed.

Ouch... at least that's one of the clearer rejections I've seen posted. There's very little doubt that you'd have to remove the human characters completely to meet Lit standards. Most of the rejections aren't quite so specific.

I sent Laurel an e-mail trying to explain that the story is based on the game, and not the anime. In the game the characters do in fact age, as evidenced in Pokemon Gold & Silver, which is set three years ahead of Pokemon Red/Blue/Green/Yellow.

Hopefully we can come up with some way to make this work, but as it stands I'm extremely depressed. It took months to write that thing and I am very proud of it. Plus it was dedicated to adetaildiva because it was the only story she got to edit for me before she passed away.

Actually, if you watch the show, you can even see aging in there as well...Ash at the beginning is 12 and by Diamond and Pearl he's clearly much odler...they're aging slowly but fairly clearly...heck, you can even hear it in his voice as it's even cracking...

I know, plus in the game their age is never revealed. I just hope we can work something out. I PMed her and plead my case, but we'll see what happens.

Well, their ages might not be revealed in the game, but that actually hurts the case since it reverts them to the age in the show when the events happened, in this case their youngest...As opposed to Gold/Silver where you visit them 3 years later...

Well, I've basically resigned myself to the unfortunate conclusion that this story is just not going to get submitted on here, so if anyone wants to read it they can PM me and I'll e-mail it to them. I may try changing it so that it doesn't mention Misty specifically, like maybe just call her the Gym Leader, rather than by name. I don't know if that can work either, plus it just takes the feeling out of it.

It just sucks that it was the only time I got to work with adetaildiva and the story will never see the light of day. I think that's what upsets me most.

Okay, so I tried to submit VR: Pokemon Leaf Green again. I changed the name of the character slightly from Misty to Mindy. Hopefully it's enough of a change that they'll let it go.

Thanks, I really worked hard on that one and consider it to be one of my best stories so far. I had to totally rewrite the sex scene, but it was worth it.

Plus it's very personal to me because it was the only story I had a chance to work with adetaildiva, and it's dedicated to her accordingly.

Despite it being a long dead thread I am sorry about the Pokemon thing. At least they were clear on it though it sucks since Pokemon charachters clearly do age.

Is there anything you need to do post on this one since it's still labeled as active still?

I keep having flashes of inspiration for a sequel to my series, too. Might just happen someday, bringing my alter ego's newfound love Tina with him this time.

If anyone's interested, my Earth Day Contest story (linked below) features a virtual reality sex simulation segment involving Jessica Alba, among others. It almost didn't get approved because of an incident in the VR simulation with Jessica and a dolphin. I had to turn the VR dolphin into a guy in a dolphin suit - like a sports mascot.

The story came out of the cute with a 2.85 and stayed there, so it's not for everyone. Plus it's a sort-of satire in the LW cat - not a good combination.

A VR dolphin didn't make the cut? Odd. They make such weird and inconsistant decisions with bestiality. I have a story up where a girl has sex with a horse. Granted I threw a horn on it and gave it cloven hooves so it was technically a unicorn but I didn't give it any special inteligence or magic powers aside from being skittish. I wonder if you could get away with a Persian from Pokemon. I mean it's not a cat.

I asked in advance. It was suggested that I remove the dolphin reference. Rather than remove it, I turned it into a sports mascot and the story made it through.

Some say the stories are screened by bots, so I suppose it would be a matter of luck whether or not a story gets flagged. However, I think it's wise to keep the interests of Laurel and Manu in mind. It is nice of them to host our writing without imposing too many arbitrary restrictions.

It certainly sounds apart from the same old story - and interesting, too.

*Chuckle* I actually have another story arc for this one too, bringing in the remaining three ( U.S. released ) games as well. Only a few paragraphs of the first one written, though. It's been back-burner for a while.
