Virginia Peeps

Another quiet night in Virginia. Does anybody know what time the party starts? I don't want to be late.
Top of the morning Good Sir. Sadly this gloomy, rainy morning seems to be all pervasive. Actually my party starts at 2:00pm tomorrow. There is a Blues Jam & Fundraiser at our local winery. Just the ticket for a Sunday afternoon. I’ll raise a glass 🍷 in your honor. Slainte

It has been a wet Saturday here so far. Not a heavy rain, just a light drizzle but enough to keep me indoors. Sounds like a fun activity for you tomorrow. Will have to tell us what talent you saw there sipping a glass of wine.

Evening Good Sir. A most Satisfactory afternoon. Blue sky, sun & 64 on Nov. 23rd, who can ask for more this time of year 🤔. Music 🎶 was Hot & Rollicking, wine 🍷was most refreshing . Only downside was the lack of a lot of “ eye candy”. But there were a few lassies in attendance. Trust you had a Good a Weekend. Slainte

It did turn out to be a beautiful fall day. I took care of some end of year yard work. I then grilled a Pichanha on a rotisserie for dinner. First time I had tried that. It came out good.
Bummer about the lack of eye candy at the winery. Wine usually attracts women though I have read that for GenZ the consumption of alcohol is way down. Hope you found a taste or two to your liking.

Hope everyone has a happy Thanksgiving. Headed over to Gloucester Point for turkey day. My wife got a 20 pounder from Publix. She really knows how to get the deals there.

The 6th and 7th of next month, they are having the "Merry Market" at Maymont Park in Richmond. No mansion tour this year, but they are offering tours of the nature center instead. That will be a walk ALL the way across the grounds, up and down hills.

Sounds interesting. I have never done a touristry trip to Richmond. Never heard of Maymont Park but then I don't know what there is to see in Richmond either.

That's a big turkey so should have some leftovers for turkey sandwiches the next day.

Well, they really gentrified Shockoe Bottom, and it's a far cry safer and cleaner than it was 20 years ago in my bar hopping days.

Maymont Park was left to the city by the Dooley family, on the condition that it would forever remain a park.

There is also Hollywood Cemetery, with a breathtaking view of the falls/rapids on the James River. 5 US presidents are buried there.

I like Belle Island Park, in the James River. In my single days, it was a fun place to hop across the rocks, and check out the sun bathing beauties that couldn't make it to Virginia Beach. Sadly, there is the shell of a defunct hydroelectric plant on site. I guess Dominion Energy is not interested in clean cheap electricity....

The Virginia Fine Arts Museum can be interesting, but my wife prefers the Science Museum, because the exhibits are more interactive, and they have the huge theater. I Science Museum is in the old train depot where my grandfather boarded the train to head to basic training for WW2.

Scott's Addition is further up Broad Street. If you are a dog lover, they have a bar with its own dog park. I am so pissed off I did not think of that first!

We saw Jeff Dunham at Altria Theater this spring. It's a wonderful venue.

There is also Carytown, with lots of eclectic shops and restaurants. It's a very LGBTQ+ friendly area. Parking is tricky, and Cary St is a 1 way street, so it can be tricky to navigate if you are not familiar with the area. Also, crosswalks there are a polite suggestion, so watch out for jaywalkers.

Those are my favorite spots in Richmond.

I will have to keep this all in mind when finally get down to Richmond to do some sightseeing. For some reason, I never made it to Richmond back in my single days. Traveled to NYC, Baltimore, Dallas, LA, Miami, San Antonio, Fort Lauderdale, Myrtle Beach for weekends of debauchery. If I could do it all over again, I would add some international cities to my trips. I was recently in Paris and there was so much talent just walking around. Hong Kong would have made for an interesting trip.

Top of the morning, Good Sir. Thanks for the Tour de Force of Richmond. You don’t work for the Chamber of Commerce by chance🤔🤣
Only been to Richmond once, back in 23. Took a tour if the Tredegar Ironworks & the surrounding area. Most impressive & enjoyable. Took advantage of that bridge across the James & walked to the far shore & back. Maybe next year I can hit some if the areas you mentioned. Have a Good Holiday tomorrow.

I believe that FireStillBurning is hoping to see some bathing beauties from that bridge. :) I remember way back when I was around 12, hearing about a place where people went skinning dipping in the local creek. It was a place where the creek was wider and deeper. Anyway, me and several friends did the long trek through the woods one summer day and when we got there there was nobody, nada. lol. We were so disappointed hoping to see some naked girls.

Thanksgiving Day Greetings my Friend. Ahh you know me fairly well, but as I recall on that day on the bridge I was mesmerized by the flowing waters & transported back to the 1860’s. But if I saw a young lady bathing it would have been a nice distraction 😜. Hope everyone has a Safe & Enjoyable Holiday. Slainte 🍺

Happy Thanksgiving to all. Hope everyone had a fulfilling day, both the stomach and any other ways.
