We've also implemented this new plan that has seen remarkable results. They were told to clean the basement recently and they kept procrastinating so we said fine we understand you don't want to do it, but you do nothing else until it's done. No tv, no playing outside, no friends over, the only thing they were allowed to do was read. So for a couple of days that's what they did, finally they got bored of that and the basement was cleaned.Cadoras said:Sounds like a great strategy to me! I think you're really onto something there

Oh, that's a great idea there!
Make them realise it's the best option.... You're training them well!

Yep stretch it out as long as possible. I'm the same way. Although the way my work is going lately, tomorrow could be a day off for me too.Cadoras said:No, that wouldn't be a good thing

Is it being a day off good or bad?
It's nice to have a day off without extra kids here, but I don't get paid either which sucks. I've been having a problem with one of my parent's not calling when they are not coming in so it really messes with my schedule. I mean it's just common courtesy.

Let's see in this month alone it's been 11 times that the kid hasn't come in. Out of those 11 times i've charged 3 hours for 9 days for no notice. Two of those days he called me the day before to tell me she was not in town. Next week she will be gone for three days on holidays. It's nice i can at least charge three hours for the days where I get no calls, but come on this is my job i depend on it to pay for my groceries and bill just like he depends on his. ) The thing is she's a great kid, very smart etc, and i don't want to terminate them, but I also hate losing money like this when there are families on waiting lists trying to find a childcare spot.

That's a very difficult situation to be in.... Have you tried talking to them about it? Maybe explain it?
It would be a shame to have to terminate them.... But if they can't be relied on, you may need to think about it....*Gives you a big hug!*
