Found this video, taped yesterday of Gov. Palin taking questions from the press aboard her plane. I think she came off as direct, articulate and intelligent. Thought some of you might be interested in seeing it since the most we've seen of her lately is from the debate and this is a much more informal Q & A session:

You might as well forget about posting anything positive about Palin around here. The AH denizens hate all conservatives, but when a woman dares to be a conservative, they go positively apeshit.....Carney

Yeah, I'm afraid you're right.

Tough questions! Bill Ayers, Reverend Wright, and this:

"How many times a day do you talk on the phone to Senator McCain?"

"What do you talk about?"

"What are your plans for tomorrow night" (Her SNL appearance)

They ask her if she's ready to be president of the United States if need be. She says she is. No doubt in her mind. She wouldn't have taken the job if she didn't feel she were totally ready to step in as Commander In Chief.

I mean, come on...

Exactly.

Ok, she was personable and answered the questions. I have always said that if people leave her alone and don't try to make her into something she is not, she would do fine.

If the only criteria for being President was to give a good interview, a lot of people would qualify. She is simply not qualified nor ready to be President on Jan 21, 2009. Ultimately, that is the REAL litmus test for a VP candidate.

Actually, the question is would she be ready if McCain was to die? Certainly not on the 21st of Jan. unless he drops dead right after he is sworn in. The likelihood that McCain will die in office is on the high order of a million to one. Will he be assassinated after being sworn in...not likely. Of course there are always those fanatics who might try.

Actually, given his age, the chances are much higher than that. However, if I were to bet on such a thing, I would bet that he will survive the first term, and do exceptionally well, but decline to run for a second. As his VP, and having done an excellent job at it, Sarah Palin would be ready to take on the big job, and will handily win the nomination and the election. That's just a prediction, of course.

I believe she may not be quite ready to become president right now, but who is? McCain is close to being ready, but Obama is still far from it. He is almost as young and inexperienced as Palin is.

What cracks me up are the people who deride Palin for being inexperienced, but still support Obama, who has no more experience (and considerably LESS executive branch experience). Hypocrisy knows no bounds......Carney

Actually, Obama has much more experience applicable to his desired position than Palin does. All you have to do is look at his resume objectively. For example, being a community organizer employs the skills needed by a politician to bring people together for a common goal - as opposed to Palin's approach of dividing our country into 'pro-America' and 'anti-America' camps. (If you haven't seen it yet, this is Palin's latest ignorance-inspired campaign technique.)

And how does Palin's experience working with budget surpluses in Alaska prepare her for working with the record deficits passed on to us by the last 8 years of conservative policies? (Especially considering that took Wasalia from being debt-free to running a deficit)

Doesn't the fact that she lied about the Bridge to Nowhere tarnish her so-called stellar record? (To me, an executive who lies to cover his/her ass is not qualified to be an executive, but I take a rather idealistic view of people with responsibilities - expecting integrity when the opposite is often perfectly acceptable to a clueless constituency.)

The fact that Obama has been chief executive of his campaign should count for something, especially considering that McCain failed as chief executive of his campaign, running it into the ground until he was forced to clean house and start over from scratch.

Experience also includes what a person does in college, where Obama was a constitutional law scholar and president of the Harvard Law Review. Compare that to Palin's college experience, where she majored in broadcasting. What motivates a person to enter beauty pageants and major in broadcasting? What motivates a person to work at community organizing for a few years and then go back to college to major in constitutional law? And what motivates a person to take a law degree and put it to work trying to help the disadvantaged of this world, as opposed to taking it to corporate America to get rich?

In looking at qualifications, experience is only one of many factors that need to be considered. Temperament, motivation, intelligence, judgement, all play a major role in how a person will perform. Executive experience alone does not necessarily qualify someone to be president. GWB had executive experience, and look where that got us.
