Well from your name one could assume you were associated with the medical community, in which case you would know that viagra is for men with erectile dsyfunction and not a recreational drug.

My take is, if you don't need it, don't take it.

i've read some medical reports that say viagra (or cialis, levitra, et al) can actually be bad for you if you don't need it. it screws with your blood flow, blood pressure, etc. i'm not saying it'll cause a cardiac event but there are risks.

just think about the vastly different effects ritalin has depending on whether you're a person with ADD or without.

50mg a day? Sweet. Better sign yourself up for some monitoring though. The sad fact is no one has any idea what the long term effects of viagra are.

Oh and by the way, when your dick finally falls off, your posting here can be used against you if you decide to sue pfizer for damages you inflicted on yourself by abusing a drug which was meant for a real medical condition.

L and I have a friend that is Gay. He has used it recreationally. I asked him about it out of curiosity. He says it really doesn't do much for him. He does have partners that use it and have have different results. He says in his opinion it isn't worth it. I have heard different from other people. I feel I would probably try it if it was available....but I dont seek it. I have no problem getting or maintaining an erection....so why bother. If I have sex and cum fast.....that is okay....we go to sleep or I get her off in other ways. If I want to continue.....we just let nature take it course and wait until I'm hard again. Part of life. Well doesn't anyone who uses viagra use it as a recreational drug?I mean what is sex anyway if it ain't fun why do it?OK, now all jokes aside.I take it because I am on meds to treat my high blood pressure and they really started to give me problems staying up.The wife was feeling like I was losing interest in her,etc. and I believe our marraige was really starting to go down hill.Then a Dr. asked if I would like to try viagra and I did.The first time I used it both the wife and I were amazed at how hard I got and how long I can last when on it plus I can get it up several times a night now.To me it is a miracle drug.Makes me feel like I am a young stud again.
I can have sex now and not worry that half way through it that I will go soft and have to quit.I have side effects from taking it. But nothing serious,blue tinted vision(which is really kinda cool),head ache (which taking a couple asprin as I take viagra kills the headache),flushing of the skin,then also ,the biggest side effect a big raging hard on that a cat can't scratch.Maybe I don't know what the long term effects are,but to me that is a chance I am very willing to take.If it kills me I will die a happy man.
What I find really funny is how many guys like at work are saying stuff like,I don't need that shit,you know the macho thing kicking in.But these same guys after a while and no one else is around come up to me and ask me to give them one to try or some have even offered to buy them from me,so I ask them why?You said you don't need it.Then months after I was on it guys at work start coming up to me and secretly tell me hey man I got my doctor to give me a sample and wow I boned the old lady like we were 18 again.
It has helped me gain some self confidence and self esteem and saved my marraige possibly.

Erection issues are not a gaurentee with all blood pressure medications. And with all the different types on medications on the market for BP I would try switching that before adding another drug to counteract it's side effects. My mom made a joke about my dad's BP med being raised about 2 months ago and she jokingly made a comment about having to up the Viagra...I said the same to her about why people would take it without trying switching meds first .. not sure if she was kidding or not (and don't want to know) but saw him yesterday and he is on something different all together now.

why would someone take a drug to accomplish something that they can teach themselves to do naturally. i speak, of course, of those without ED and use viagra purely for prolonged erections. with a little work (which can be very fun) you can have an even LONGER erection (time, not size here... lol) than viagra can give by learning tantra. and there's no side-effects.

I agree. I just don't understand why anyone would want to take a drug with such high risks when there are healthier, natural ways to accomplish the same goal. As a woman, I'd personally be offended if my husband took viagra when he didn't need it for medicinal purposes - if he has to take drugs to enjoy our time together, then there is a serious problem.

That's not the point. One could certainly make the argument that anyone who uses Viagra and its counterparts, whether he has a documented medical condition or not, is doing so for recreational purposes. That's why there's a debate about whether or not insurance companies should pay for it. However, this thread is about people who DON'T have problems with erectile dysfunction using drugs that WEREN'T intended for their use.

My husband doesn't need Viagra, so he doesn't use it. I would be extremely upset with him if he were buying pills off his buddies when he doesn't have a medical need for them. If he needed it, he'd go to the doctor. I'm just thankful that his self-esteem isn't tied to his dick.

I got some to try recreationally, you know just for fun to see if it was what they said it was. First time I only took one 50mg pill, and honestly even after an hours worth of playing around the only thing I got was a flush feeling inside, literally all warm and fuzzy but no ragin hard on like I was expecting, just "the norm"

Second time I tried after talking with a few buddies that play with it, I took 3 of the 50mg. I then noticed a huge difference, this time I did not get that flushed/warm feeling inside and during the session I did'nt get a stronger than steel hard on either, it did stay about as hard as normal. Side effect though, next day I was stuck to the house as everytime the wind would blow I would have to pull up a blanket, or readjust the pants....made it real tough to get a movie that night, had to dig out one of my longer coats to cover my tee-pee LOL!! since then it's been sitting idle. I have had Viagra prescribed for dis-function, 50mg worked like a charm, bone hard for several hours. (The wife loved it) Then I came down with pneumonia, lost 15 pounds that I still haven't regained. I suspect that Other maladies were included with the pneumonia as my blood pressure also has come down to 80/50 and even 150mg of Viagra no longer works.

This sort of thing has always annoyed me. I don’t understand why anyone would take a drug they don’t need. For those who have ED, I imagine Viagra is a great thing. But for those who have no problem getting an erection? You’re a pill popper in my mind.

My husband has no problem getting or maintaining an erection. If he popped Viagra just to see what it would do, he’d be dealing with his drug induced erection by himself. The whole thing seems sleazy to me. Why not just shoot up some heroine and fuck your SO? Drug abuse is drug abuse in my opinion, and a guy who takes Viagra without a need to take it is just too creepy for me.

Yes, that does say PERMANENT DAMAGE to your penis. Yeah, sounds terrific! Just what every guy asked for when he was looking for a quick way to fuck his SO for several hours. Chances are, you’ll take it and be just fine, but if you’re in the small percent of people who have reactions to this drug, you could very well kill yourself. Just like with any pharmasutical drug that you can get out there. The chances are that it will harm you if you don't need it.
