On November 11, 1918 at 11:00 a.m., an armistice was executed that ended World War One.

Today is Veteran's Day. If you are a vet - Thank You for your service.

Thank you to all the men and women who have served!!!!!! Because of you, we have the freedoms we have today.

Thank you.

All attention to this day counts know matter how many threads there are ....it's our day to shake a paw...stop and say thanks...go visit a vet...go to any of the great memorials or a VA Hospital.....I am a Vet and I will visit my Brothers and Sister...

I was fortunate to have served for three years and never had to fire a shot in anger. I am deeply grateful for those who served before and since who bravely put themselves in harm's way every day for our safety and for the preservation of the freedoms we all enjoy.

In England we call it remembrance day or poppy day and have a two minute silence at 11am. I have been wearing my poppy with pride.

Armistice Day.

In Flanders Fields

by John McCrae, May 1915

In Flanders fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.

We are the Dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved, and now we lie
In Flanders fields.

Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders fields.

Sometimes when I think about those military who've passed on I realise that they not just gave one life...they gave two lives.

They gave the life they had, and when they died - they gave up the life they may have had, the chance to perhaps become a wife or husband, a mother or father, or a grandparent.

Rememberance is the least we can do for those who gave so much.

May those currently serving be protected and encouraged; may those who have served be appreciated; may those who've gone before never be forgotten.

Thank you to our military members & veterans.

I am also humbled to say a big THANK YOU to all the Vets for their service and for our freedom.

Marie

I can't imagine what the world maybe like without all the heroes that fought.

Happy Rememberance Day.

My grandpa fought in WWII and I have always been thankful and proud of him for it. Yet he just thought it was his duty.

I thought alot about the brave men and women in a long moment of silence.

This came across my desk last week. They are starting a consentration in Florida
the next few months but this is still open to everyone. Happy Veterans Day all!!!

Veterans – Library of Congress Wants Your Story

The Library of Congress is asking if you know a veteran that you then pledge to record that veteran’s story and submit it to them for safekeeping.

The Veterans History Project is 10 years old. Whether you know a WWII veteran or a soldier just returned from Afghanistan, the Library of Congress wants you to help collect their stories. The interviews can be audio or video and can be conducted by family, friends, neighbors or another veteran. The idea is to get the story.

It can really be as simple as having a conversation, but the memories that are recorded are of priceless value to families to researchers and students and general public. Guidelines on how to participate, suggested questions and registration forms are all available on the Library of Congress web site. There’s also a “field kit” that can be downloaded.

It was a defining period in my life. I wouldn't be the person I am today if I hadn't served.

I could not have made a better point, SD. My most humble thanks and gratitude go to all who have served, are serving, or will serve our wonderful country and freedom everywhere. And the same to the family and loved ones whose sacrifice is great although too often not acknowledged.

Thank you Veterans

Despite the conflicting views that Americans have regarding Democrats VS Republicans, we must always remember to respect our wonderful country, and the courageous men and women who have served and who are still in service. Thank you for keeping our country free.
