BOSTON (AP) — A federal appeals court overturned all fraud convictions Wednesday of two parents who were found guilty of paying bribes to get their kids into elite universities as part of a sprawling ...

I won't be surprised if all of them get tossed. This whole case was a load of bull from the start. The entirety of college is pay for play which is all these parents did.

Corruption and bribery are a way of life once you get above a certain level on the ladder. Those who breathe the rarified air of the rich and powerful have different rules than us plebes at the bottom.

Interesting tidbit from the article:

The government was allowed to introduce a “significant amount of powerful evidence related to other parents’ wrongdoing in which these defendants played no part, creating an unacceptable risk that the jury convicted Abdelaziz and Wilson based on others’ conduct rather than their own,” the judges wrote.

OT to this thread, but the same point could be made about the Trump defamation case and the Access Hollywood tape. What he said then about those other people had no bearing on what he was alleged to have done to E Jean Carroll yet was allowed into evidence anyway. That may have created the "unacceptable risk" that the jury found him liable based on conduct not involving the complainant. The appeals court will have to sort it out but I can guarantee that there will be someone not happy with whatever that ends up being. I won't be one of them, but someone will be unhappy over it.
