Variations 2.0 - Pepper's Playpen

Tried to recreate my favourite pair.
Love that colour. I would've loved to have walked in step with you.
There's actually a tree in my town where a pair of battered DMs hung (along with many other shoes/boots).

This makes me want to do "some of that old moon stomping". A million pleasures if you were actually referencing Symarip or The Specials.
Okay so does anyone know where I can go to get a pair of shoes made? I just want to send them this and have them make them so I can wear them 🥺

There's a shoemaker in Helsinki, who might do something like this to order. A local arts and crafts shop does textile paints and I have seen the boots they have decorated to show off their paints. Surprisingly similar.

Love this. DMs are so British in their style but were invented by a German (I think). I loved that Jamaican ska music made the best tune about them and that Alexei Sayle (another not very British Brit) wrote humorously about them and that The Redskins (soulful, agit-prop, anti-fascists) wore them and beautiful girls - with long, flowing dresses their mothers probably wore - began stomping with them in the late 80s/early 90s.

When production was moved to China, I stopped wearing them as the quality was shite for a while. But now they good again and I buy at this time of the year hoping to pick up a pair in a winter sale.

I actually want to buy Solovair (geddit?) as they are the true heirs of the DM brand but I don't see them where I am and I'm brassic.

To Saltfountain, thanks for using the pic.

Oops. Didn't do my research on that one. The company was founded in Germany, though now headquartered in England. As a tween in the early '80s, they were always associated with the UK punk scene for me.

ETA: Sorry, @Saltfountain. Didn't mean to keep us off track. Just saw your post.

Punk, Funk, soul, ska, post punk,

That was me. I used to dream of girls like these.
Been to a few punk festivals over the last decade and they've grown up but are sexier for it. :D
