Variations 2.0 - Pepper's Playpen

Time is often what I have least of, but I do enjoy the creative process. I’m not sure this is the right place for it, but I would love to hear everyone’s favorite app and tips and tricks for these photo edits. I can’t speak for @Lmizzler, but the time required for the learning curve on tools/process is generally my barrier to entry.
I don't know how to photoshop at all but I use Pixlr for filters and find it to be very simple to use

I love PicsArt best, and you can do so much with the free version (which is what I have). Pixlr is also free and really good. I sometimes use both on the same pic 😁

The three I've used are picsart (which I thought you had to pay for, but you can X out of the subscription), prisma, and on my computer I'll use canva. I liked prisma because it's mostly just preset filters, but eventually got a little bored. Picsart is nice because they make it easy to layer multiple filters/presets and there are a lot of free tools to play with.

I use PicsArt as well on my phone. I love it.

Oh I wasn't meaning that at all.
I love seeing all the amazing interpretations everyone comes up with. I'd love to be able to say I'm gonna teach myself how to do the clever stuff too but my ability to concentrate is severely lacking lately so I just make pretty colours that make me smile
No, not at all, lovely lady.🌷 It's merely that I can recognize that I don't have the same level of skills or creativity as some of the talented people who post their creations here. But I participate because I have the time and it's fun to play around and learn.
Whew, thanks  You both have ideas that every day make me go "why the f didn't I think of that" 🤣

Photoshop, recently upgraded from 2015 to 2023... And here's what my workspace usually looks like. I posted a quick-guide to layers some time earlier in the thread, but, other than that most of my tips and tricks are pretty useless unless you use photoshop.

But my #1 general tip for compositions an making them look natural is "think with depth, think with light". Imagine the picture has depth to it, try to visualize "where" the objects are located, and how light would fall on them, before adding shadows. It's the one thing that adds the most to pics.

Ah see I do this on my phone. Maybe I need to get on the laptop if I want to branch out in the skills department.
Something to think about definitely

I'm using Picsart. I haven't done my due diligence and tried searching for how to do certain things, but, for anyone who does use it, is there a way to filter just one section of a photo or layer? Also, anytime I want to apply more than one effect to an image/layer, I end up exporting the image, re-uploading it, and then applying the second effect on that image. Am I the only person who finds that you can apply only one effect and one overlay per image/layer?

The button between the eraser and the download are what saves the effect and lets you start on a new one. I use add picture to add a new layer, aspect. For the one below I used the free crop I think to get the mushroom, then duplicated it and I could give different effects to each one.

I apply a filter then use the erase tool if I don't want the filter on the whole image. Is that what you mean? I also just hit the check box at the top after I filter it and then can add another filter.
