Vaping

You must not have the common right wing views of "fuck you! I got mine!!!' down there.

I have both Medicare and private health insurance.

The Medicare levy is 2% of your taxable income, in addition to the tax you pay on your taxable income. ... Generally, the pay as you go amount your employer withholds from your salary or wages includes an amount to cover the Medicare levy. Your actual Medicare levy is calculated by ATO when you lodge your income tax return.

The Medicare Levy Surcharge is an additional 1% in tax that you may have to pay if your annual taxable income is above the Medicare Levy Surcharge thresholds and you do not have an appropriate level of private hospital cover.

Yeah, what a HORRIBLE thing to have..

Yea. Especially when it means what most of the "progressive" (D)'s including the front runners support, nationalizing the HC insurance industry and or the HC industry altogether depending on who's plan you're looking at. That means no more private care/insurance services.

That's anti-American, authoritarian socialism comrade.

1) American HC should be a public service, not a government takeover of the industry.

2) HC shouldn't be a federal issue, no need or reason for it to be federal.

Here it's dog eat dog, fuck you I got mine

Welcome to the land of the free buddy!!!

If freedom really pisses you off that much you might want to consider moving comrade.

It's disturbing, to say the least.

It's the liberal thing to do and the American way. Let freedom RING! :D

Those are all great reasons to have coverage, or at least access to coverage.

Here in the states we've gotten away from the common good, compassion and common sense. Here it's dog eat dog, fuck you I got mine, fuck you I got mine and want yours... meanwhile, the orange trainwreck passes on HUGE tax breaks for the wealthy and corporations, adds trillions to the deficit, threatens to cut social security and medicare to pay for those cuts... and not a peep from the right wing dummies.

You know the first question that popped into my head when I read that?

Why in the world would anyone want to live there?

What a sad state of affairs.

For all its faults, the USA is great...and thankfully it's only half of us that are Republicans..lol

I'd rather surround myself with deadly animals. At least you know with animals their intentions are pure when they kill you. You can say oh well I stepped on him by accident or, I shouldn't have swam there I know better

You've got an unpleasantness there. Something is biting you on the arse and it ain't a brown snake or a funnel web spider. It's your fellow man. You think about that and tell me again just how great it is. How great your life is

I couldn't live like that. Worrying and fighting and being angry about being treated like crap. I'd leave all that stress and worry and aggravation behind. What kind of life is that? You'd get old very very quickly. People slipping through the cracks. Giving up hope. It's very sad.

Fuckem, let em die!!!!!:rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:

Medicare is a national health insurance program in the United States, begun in 1966 under the Social Security Administration (SSA) and now administered by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS). It primarily provides health insurance for Americans aged 65 and older, but also for some younger people with disability status as determined by the Social Security Administration, as well as people with end stage renal disease and amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS or Lou Gehrig's disease).

In 2018, Medicare provided health insurance for over 59.9 million individuals—more than 52 million people aged 65 and older and about 8 million younger people.

I am not against Medicare itself. I am against being forced to pay more of my money for something I don't use. Just like my current health insurance. Tens of thousands of dollars (hundreds of thousands when you include my employer) poured down the drain for nothing.

If someone has a legitimate medical need, I have no problem with the government making sure they're covered and taken care of. No one that I know of wakes up one day and says, "Hey, you know. I think I'd like to have MS.", or "Ya know, I think spina bifida is cool. I think I'll try it."

But after decades of paying for health insurance, and never using it, which means I'm out all that money that I earned, to then be told by the government I have to hand over more money when I retire just because, that's bullshit. If I spent all those decades paying for something, then I should either get my money back for that which I didn't use, or continue to be covered for what I've already paid for.

Listening to people bitch about a government that they voted for and enabled
all because they hate conservatives more than they love common sense...

Where was all of your dedication to fighting government when
your duly-elected President was doing everything he could to
take over and run the health-care sector of our economy?

Un-fucking-beievable...

Speaking of:
I was thinking about the failed alcohol prohibition attempt in the 20's.
Contrast that with the enormous success of the "cease smoking" campaign of the 2000's.

If they put their mind to it, authorities Could do similar things with alcohol.
What did they do instead? They gave licenses to most supermarkets, so that drinkers come across cues every time they buy food. And to home delivery services like uber eats.
