Vaping

So, corporations can develop addictive products that will kill you, hide the fact that they are addictive, hide the fact that they will kill you if used as intended and the government should just say, hey, not our problem if you get sucked in and die, they gotta make a buck you know...yup, now thats what I call freedom

That's the whole fast food industry among many others.

That is freedom.

You can be free or kept, can't be both.....like a cat or a bird.

Nah....there is something missing in his head

Ahh not wanting to be forced to be responsible for everyone els's shit decisions/behavior means I'm missing something in my head.

And just how many homeless junkies are you bringing into your home tonight??

Will you be leaving your door open????

Letting people ransack and violate your home/vehicle/property??

Or are you going to lock your shit up and call the cops if they do??

Remember if you do you have the same thing missing that I do. :D

Compassionate people leave their shit unlocked and smile when others steal and vandalize their property and violate their body.

RIGHT????

It is proper to find out if a company is marketing toxic chemicals as safe to inhale.

If it rises to the level of importance, I don't see why not.

But that's vastly different than prohibition/regulation.

Yeah. Damn those containment domes on the nuclear reactors. Fucking cost raising safety regulation bullshite at a basic utility.

That's false equivalency right up there with comparing nukes to AR-15's...LOL

From what I read, the panic sounds legit:

CDC is studying a cohort of 530 cases with pulmonary illnesses probably related to vaping.
But what led to the panic is that on top of that, there's been a speigh of acute severe respiratory symptoms in vapers, over the last few months.

Out of 53 hospitalized just in Wisconsin and Illinois, 1/3rd required ventilation or intubation, a few even required extracorporeal membrane oxygen.
So I guess the fatalities would have been higher than 7, if not for medical intervention. (NEJM)

What is that supposed to mean?

On the policy of shooting hostile invaders making force entry.

If you are Ok with this policy, there is something wrong with you.

Why??

What's wrong with securing your borders from hostile threats???

You lock your door at night don't you? Call the cops or defend yourself if someone kicks your door in and starts fucking you up don't you??

I am not going to respond with an answer.

Thought so.

Cognitive dissonance is a perpetual issue with open borders lefties.

You are sick. That is why I won't bother to answer you.

You call me sick and claim I'm missing something in my head.

But I bet you call the cops when someone kicks your door in and starts taking your shit or violating you don't you??

"Security for me but not for thee!!" comes to mind.

No one has kicked my door in or violated me.

Lucky you, as I'm sure you're aware not everyone is that lucky.

So let's say you're less 'privileged' and someone did.....because it DOES happen, could still happen to YOU.

If you found yourself being violated would you fight back by any means necessary to protect yourself, your family and property or call the police for help???

Or would you just take it with a smile?

Maybe welcome them to violate your SO/kids or steal all your shit once they are done violating you ???

I don't think the govt. would have given a damn, if not for the recent speigh of acute, potentially lethal cases.

After all, the US still uses pesticides that are banned in Europe and other countries.
Including Chlorpyrifos, which has been clearly linked to impaired brain and neurological development in children.

That doesn't make any sense and you know it

Sure it does....it's no secret that junk food is toxic waste, causes deadly heart disease, obesity and diabeetus.

That shit kills more people than cars, guns, beat sticks, heroine, meth, crack, vape pens, AND tobacco COMBINED.

Why not ban that?? There aren't even warning labels on the shit.

As for being free or kept it makes perfect sense.

Unless you can explain how a bird or person if you will, in a cage (kept, not responsible for itself), is actually free.

You can be kept (someone else is responsible for you) or you can be free (you are responsible for you), can't be both at the same time.

Compassion doesn't have anything to do with it.

You can be compassionate without the state holding a gun to your head forcing you to take responsibility for everyone els's poor choices. ;)

You fucked up in the sandbox and taxpayers are still paying for your poor choice.

A lot of shit needs work.
Once in a while I would like to see them get something right

There are extremes to both sides, of course.

Complete freedom would entail that nobody has your back, so you wouldn't even be able to call the police...or have armed forced to protect you...etc. etc. It would be the wild, wild, west...every person for themselves.

The opposite end of the spectrum would be communism...where everything is controlled and you can't make any personal choices. What a drab and terrible existence that would be.

To assume anyone wants either of these things is absurd. There is a happy medium. The issue is how far in one of those directions does one want to live. Personally, I'd take more personal freedoms and less government interference. But I like the idea of the police and armed forces looking out for me, too. And regulations on certain things...like drugs.

1) I didn't make that choice, Bush and a Bipartisan congress did.

2) The taxpayers are paying for services rendered as per their agreement with me.

Don't want to support veterans? Call your congress critters and take it up with them.

Conflating military service with socialism and veterans benefits with hand-outs is NEVER going to work out very well for you Rob, it's a dishonest false equivalency and everyone knows it, including you. :)

Communism isn't really at the other end of the scale from anarchism, authority or authoritarianism is. Both communism and fascism are equally totalitarian in their authority (as opposed to anarchy). It gets more complicated but that's the basic Left vs. Right and authority vs. freedom cross.

As for the middle ground compromise, I agree about the fact that those who support total anarchy or authority are in the extreme minority.

Being a freedom loving patriotic M'arican I favor the political ideals/values the USA was founded and built upon collectively known as liberalism, which sits really damn close to anarchism.

The basic premise is that you can regulate to prevent on persons freedom from violating another's. (called negative liberty) So no murder, no dumping toxic waste in the water supply etc.

You can also regulate to make people MORE free. (positive liberty) like having cops to enforce those regulations, having a court to settle civil disputes, a military to protect the people etc. and you do so in as equitable of a manner as possible.

You do not regulate to control the outcomes of one person or group of peoples lives. No wealth redistribution, no discrimination, no double standards for any one demographic or group of people. Those are the expressway to authoritarianism (fascism/communism), which are obviously illiberal and un-American.

I guess that should be left only to the lawyers and their hired experts when someone finally files a lawsuit?

Yeah. Damn those containment domes on the nuclear reactors. Fucking cost raising safety regulation bullshite at a basic utility.

So the FDA should test the conent of the vape iol and release the results.

That is theor role.

(Which has been perverted by the kleptoxracy )

There are two things going on here that are contributory to these deaths.

1. As mentioned by another poster, cleanliness of the equipment. They are inhaling whatever is growing on those machines directly into their lungs. No law or tax is going to get people to clean their equipment properly. (Remember the big stink about the Neti Pots not all that far back?)

2. There are a bunch of mad chemists running those vape shops. God only knows what sort of shit they're mixing together. This IS problematic and government can play a role here. But I hardly think we need to tack a 'V' on the end of BATF&E. The States can deal with that issue quite effectively and with less burden on the taxpayer to boot.

so all of those hundreds of allergy warnings on junk food, the health inspections at the restaurants, the calorie counts on labels, the whole regulation thing for fast food - never happened.

Good to know.

A calorie count and health inspection aren't even an age restriction....there is nothing about any of the things you listed that infringes on, hampers or takes legal action against the free and voluntary exchange of those products.

As it should be, for everything.

Including vapes......and don't forget drugs n' whoorz and abortions.

Regulation =/= prohibition, the two are vastly different.

Prohibition, hard or soft, of legal consenting adults having/selling/doing whatever with each other? That's illiberal, anti-American bullshit.

How would you "hide" the fact that nicotine is addictive?

Even before we knew that nicotine was the active ingredient in tobacco, everyone knew that tobacco was addictive. Extracting just the addictive part of tobacco putting it in a vape, should be clearly understood to be an addictive product.

The tax payer?

ROFL :D

Why would the taxpayer benefit by having their taxes raised?

Especially considering the vast majority of them don't vape.

Punish everyone for a few morons because that will be good for everyone....makes total sense.

Raising taxes, or enacting a new tax, seems to be the "progressives" answer to every problem. Even to problems that don't exist.

Taxman

There is no real emergency. The only reason this is even being mentioned is because some white kids died from using illegal vaping products. If these were inner city kids, it wouldn't even be an issue.

It's the same thing with the heroin overdoses. Only because of the pictures of white parents passed out in their cars with kids in the back after they od'd did it become an issue. Completely ignored were the inner city folks doing the same thing.

Mind you, I don't really care who dies in either situation. If you're dumb enough to use this stuff, after being repeatedly warned of the dangers, you're on your own. I'm only pointing out the reason for this so called emergency.

As a side note, remember how back in the 80s there was this supposed crack epidemic in the inner city folks after the CIA flooded the market with crack? The black community knew what was happening and the dangers it presented yet kept on buying and dying.

Same here. Everyone knows the dangers yet they keep using.

P.S. There have only been 12 recorded cases of people dying from vaping. Of the millions who vape, 12 dead doesn't even register. There is no emergency.
