Well, here goes nothing. I just submitted my first story of three stand alone stories. This one is 4 Lit pages and 11,700 words.

I keep getting distracted. If it isn't some other story nagging at me, it's a line on the water heater spewing water as soon as the deep-freeze ended yesterday *sigh*

I'll probably finish it in time, but I thought I was going to have this one done for day one. Dagnabbit...

I have one that's a whole 1600 words! I'm trying to flesh it out but I'm afraid it's going to lose the feel it has right now. If I fill it in too far then it will change the entire thing.

Phew. Well I've submitted mine, so finger's crossed. Mine is a mere 5,000 words including the foreword though so not exactly novel length but I've fallen in love with the characters *sigh*. Might just have to do something more with them!

Munachi, you have till February 5 to submit it. The contest opens Tuesday but doesn't close till the 5th.

I'm waiting to submit mine till the 20th, just because I get easily confused and it makes more sense to me to do it that way. I have two stories for the contest, so will probably submit one on the 20th and the other a couple days later.

And I might end up writing another one, depending on what kind of mood I'm in between now and then.

But a really good idea and a really good story can end up winning the Authors' Hangout Last Place (tm) Contest because it doesn't appeal to enough voters. The Last Place Winners' stories can be interesting reading.

An entry with bad idea and a bad story is likely to finish in the mediocre rankings (as do most entries).

Can't do it.

The story I've been writing needs me to be honest with it.

Forcing it through the filters to make it work within Valentines Day themes was being dishonest with it. So I am back to writing it - making it what it should be instead of what I forced it to try and be. Which is really a novella that is still talking, breathing and walking....
I could always pull from some other works I have lurking on the drive... but no.... Dangit. This one has me held for the moment - and I am following it where it leads

I'm just wondering how on earth to reply to an anon comment that I want to answer LOL. I wish you could block anon comments, I thought that there was a way but I misread something, I appreciate the comments but would like to be able to answer them *sigh*.

You can add a comment of your own in response. I don't think there would be any other way.

I always thought we could block anon. comments too. I have never tried to, because some of them are quite interesting or amusing.

Having said that, I need to get busy on my story. I have already decided to scale back somewhat on the romance I am writing, because I need to get it done. If I don't spend too much time on the forums, I may be able to finish the first draft today.
