Convention says more women have clitoral orgasms than vaginal, but is it more common to only be able to have clitoral (or vaginal) orgasms?
And it is common to have clitoral orgasms whilst having penetrative sex without concurent masturbation?

Most women orgasm through direct clit stimulation. Of course, the ones that do have more than occasional vaginal orgasms, can have clitoral ones, too. Giving a woman consistant orgasms will most likely involve rubbing, licking, sucking, or using a vibrator directly on or close to her clit. ;) Yes, it goes against the conventional logic of cock in cunt = sex, but that's just how it works.

Also, because they just found out that the roots of the clit extend down under the labia majora, there is actually no difference between vaginal and clitoral orgasms--they both work by stimulating the clit, just different parts of it.

Don't trust anything Freud says without applying a grain of salt to it first. He's like Babe Ruth. Il Bambino once held the world record for home runs. ...As well as the world record for strike-outs.

Well, I wouldn't say they just found it. It's been a few years, now. Of course, it's also not likely the clit's "legs" being directly stimulated. Most likely, it's caused by the paraurethral gland (what makes women squirt) pushing on them. I have a feeling, that's what makes the G-spot work. Afterall, the prostate presses up against the inner parts of the penis in guys.

Female orgasms are massively subjective and the answer differs for every woman. I find it far, far easier to achieve vaginal orgasms (that's not to say it's hard to get to a clitoral orgasm but it takes a lot longer in most cases). There are ways to achieve clitoral orgasms during sex; cowgirl is good for that, or certain arrangements in missionary. It depends on the woman and the dexterity of her partner.

I'd say that a decent amount of women might say that they can only have clitoral orgasms, simply because to much varies about what will get a chick off with only vaginal sex. I know for a fact that there are only two positions that things get hit 'right' for me to orgasm for only vaginal sex...
I also know that with a different partner those two positions probably wouldn't do it for me, and I'd have to figure out what a different size/shape of penis would hit and how to get into a position so it'd work. It's just a lot more variable when you take clit stimulation out of the question.
Then you also bring in the factor of time, ie, while I can get off from just vaginal sex, it takes a -lot- longer, so if clitoral stimulation occurs before vaginal sex, or during the early part of sex, I have a better chance of getting off for the act itself.

Weird, but that's why I'm assuming so much attention is paid to the clit as the 'only way X person gets off.'

This sounds like what I've heard, but apparently I am in a minority with the opposite in orgasm reality. And that's fine by me :p

Or manipulation? No, it is not common at all.

DUh ... NO!!

"They" being researchers. Anybody who is in tune with their body, has a lover who knows or learns fast will also tell you most sex research is moronic at best. Many top sexologists are still debating whether GSPOTS exist.

Yes the CLIT is attached to a nerve trunk that expresses deeper in the vagina. On that basis one can assume that the nerves from her big TOE also attach to those same nerve trunks. SO why doesn't stomping on her foot or sucking a toe produce mind blowing orgasms??

To say "there is no difference between clitoral and vaginal orgasms" is simply showing the world that you don't have a clue. I don't have either and I still KNOW that there are HUGE differences between the MANY types of orgasms that a woman can experience. I suggest you find a good woman and do your own research and leave the idiotic comments to the researchers.

.

I have had many clitoral Os, many vaginal (g-spot) Os, and one anal O.

I can tell you, as the person experiencing them, that they are VERY different animals.

A suplimentary question to those who can have both vaginal and clitoral orgasm: Which is it better?
(Obviously they're so different they can't be compared and it's all down to taste, day of the week, phase of the moon, what you had for lunch last Tuesday and barometric preasure on your geographical locations antipode, but just say for sake of argument, lets over simlify the issue for 5 minutes ;) )

I like both!

But if say you were going to have life saving surgery with the necessary consequence of loosing the ability to have either clitoral or vaginal orgasms, and keep only one, which would you choose?

I personally don't think there is such a thing as a vaginal orgasm, unless the clit is somehow getting stimulated during the process. I think there are only two kinds of orgasms in females - clitoral and mind. If your mind is running wild with thoughts and fantasies, etc I think it is possible to reach orgasm. For example, both men and women can have wet dreams. I think the people who think they are having vaginal and anal orgasms are actually experiencing orgams generated from their minds or that their clits are being stimulated during the process.

So, what about nipple stimulation orgasms, though? Of course, from a really technical perspective, orgasm from physical stimulation comes mainly from genital corpuscle ( a kind of nerve) stimulation. They're found in the dick/clit and nipples. They branch off from the pudendal nerve that's responsible for connection to the sex center of the brain. (also, pudendum is an old, technical term for cunt if anyone needs a synonym for a story or something) Technically, you're right that vaginal orgasm would have to do with indirect stimulation of the clit, but not in the way most people would think of clit stimulation. The whole thing is actually serveral inches long and branches off to both sides of the vagina, like a wishbone, with the part you can see and feel as the other end of it. The penis in guys works the same way, except for the fact that it's bigger. Like I said above, the vaginal/prostate orgasm is probably caused by the prostate/"female prostate" (paraurethral gland) pushing on the inner parts of the dick/clit that you can't really feel or see without being chopped up on a dissecting table. :D Of course, they're pretty close to the bladder, as well, so that's why some women used to think they'd pissed themselves rather than squirting. It does take significant stimulation to make most women visibly squirt, but that's because the gland is smaller and less formed.

I think the women that do make small cock comments might think twice if they ever realized that they have an even smaller penis than any guy out there, though. ;) Of course, women do get a vagina and much better protected balls as compensation.

Interestingly, a long time back I saw some human develo
ment tv show that suggested that the clit and glans start out as the same lump of cells and it's only when a foetus's hormones kick in that they develop one way or t'other.

Yeah, that's true. The dick/clit form from the same tissues, the scrotum/labia do, the prostate/paraurethral glands, the bulbourethral glands/vestibular glands, and the testes/ovaries. Guys also have the first third or so of the vagina. All of it comes down to testosterone level during the critical period. Yeah, if the mother was taking testosterone for sex drive during that period, a girl could be born looking just like an other male baby. The same could happen with birth control pills/IUDs that release hormones. High levels of estrogen/progesterone suppress testosterone. There's also 2 sets of parts that would develop into the epidytimes, and vas deferens in guys or the uterus, uterine tubes, and upper vagina in women. A gene on the Y chromosome causes the female parts to self destruct. (basically the only thing the Y does is prepare an embryo for being male, while the X is responsible for just about everything else) The male parts automatically self destruct in the absence of that testosterone surge.

All of this is the reason why guys have that seam from their asshole up their ball sack. That would have been their cunt had it not been for the testosterone. It's also the reason for that groove under the head of a woman's clit, where her urethra could have stretched to if only it weren't bigger than her clit. :D

Yeah, needless to say, if you end up developing as the wrong sex, you'll be infertile due to the fact that you'd lack all the reproduction only parts. Of course, it's a bit worse for the female side, since you'll probably be having surgery during puberty since I doubt you'd want to be a woman without a vagina. ;) The zero periods or pregnancies might make up for it, though, depending on the individual.

It does make me wonder about all the hate for same sex couples, though. Afterall, everyone started with the exact same parts and all the fun ones, besides the vagina, are still present.

Darling, if you could experience the anal orgasms that I've had then I think you would DEFINITELY re-think this position. Just sayin'. ;)

Yes, they start out exactly the same. Tis the androgens, encouraged by the Y chromosome that make the gonadal tissues develop into one or the other.

As a lesbian, I've known women with all varieties of stances in the vaginal/clitoris orgasm debate. One of my friends had a gf who could only cum if there was anal stimulation in addition to clitoral.

At the end of the day, though, I think a large part of the debate rests on the fact that some women just don't appear to have any desire for stimulation inside, or of they do, it's more as an added bonus than anything else. I know some girls who'd happily forsake their clits, and some who would rather cut off their own arms first. It's totally subjective.

I have had both clit, and gspot Os... they are very different... Clit are less gratifying for me and dont last as long... much more like scratching an itch... whereas, gspot Os are earth moving, long lasting, and very intense. they are harder for me to have though for some reason, especially after 2 kids :( there is a difference...

I whole-heartedly second this opinion! And here I was starting to wonder if I was weird for actually preferring the orgasms from anal.

I really enjoy my anal orgasms. And sometimes I also think I prefer them to others - although that view drifts according to mood.

In terms of vagina v clitoris - I think this is a very personal thing for every woman, if for no other reason than the difficulty in describing an orgasm. Personally I don't tend to categorise them, or file them away - oh, that was one was vaginal, that one clitoral, and so on - although I certainly feel things more in different places depending on how I had sex, or the way I was feeling.

The mental aspect is important to me - if often seems as if it's the thought of what I'm doing, or the emotions I exchange with my partner, which make me come.
