Okay, maybe a strange question...

A friend gave me a few really nice bottles of essential oils and such. Very cool gift. :) One of those bottles was of Vitamin E.

So...I'm not sure what to do with it. What are the uses for Vitamin E? I did a search and google told me it can be used for keeping nails healthy, etc...

I'm just needing some ideas. I can't imagine letting it go to waste! What do you use Vitamin E for...and does it work?

Thanks. :)

I've used vitamin E to help reduce the appearance of scars. I had many chicken pox scars that have faded due to the use of it.

Thank you! And wow, that was a FAST response. :)

I have a new scar on my ankle from a recent accident...I'll start using the Vitamin E on that and see what happens.

Just a little dab on a cotton swab will do it. No need to have an oil slick! If you didn't have a bottle of the oil, I would suggest putting a small hole in the end of one of the gel capsules. Much less mess that way! (Look out Helouise!)

sheath, I have recently read Vitamin E is a good treatment for burns - in fact even the effects of sunburn can be reduced by applying a Vitamin E / Olive Oil lotion.

Thanks for that tip. I plan on treating myself to an island vacation within the next few months, and that will probably come in VERY handy. I tend to sunburn just by thinking about sunlight. ; )

I recall reading somewhere that Vitamin E is quite helpful in maintaining or restoring virility in men. But I don't suppose that's a use you are looking for, is it? ;)

Not at the moment.

Unfortunately.

:(

But maybe one day very soon? :D

I don't think it works that fast. ;) Besides, the application we're talking about here is from taking the vitamin orally, not applied topically. Though heaven knows, if you find that you can bring back the (temporarily) dead with a topical application you could probably make a mint selling it.

Topical application could be enjoyable, though. :)

I'll keep the caspules in mind, though, when the day comes that I DO have a man around who would want to stay...umm...vigorously virile. :D

That made me smile. ;)

It can be used topically for reducing scars, healing cuts, and other minor abrasions. I've used it on old scars and it seems to help reduce the appearance. Keep in mind, it generally takes three months of applying once a day to see results. :)

Yeah, but you are there, and I'm here...

*sigh*

Hey, I can ship some Vitamin E capsules to you. You know, just in case. ;)

Well...there should be enough in this bottle to last that long.

When I apply it, should I use just a thin film of it? And then let it dry...or apply it a little thicker, let it set for a while, and then blot the excess away?

Any other ideas for Vitamin E? I read that is strengthens nails...does it really? Has anyone tried that?

Thanks, all. :)

It's great for the skin. I blend my own body oils and put vitamin E in them. A little goes a long way.

Well, hello there, beautiful. Long time, no see. :)

I don't have much in the way of body oils, but I have a LOT of lotions. Would blending them work just as well?

Okay, this is going to sound funny. ;)

I have a show dog, and I gave him vitamin E to prevent scars on any nicks or cuts he'd pick up playing in the yard.. prevents the hair growing in white.

It's also something of an antioxidant, and is healthy for the skin and hair, builds a healthier hair shaft.

I give it to my dogs also because it's supposed to help with the heart in some way.

Sorry I don't know the human applications as well as I do the animals, but I suspect it has all the same effects for us as it does for my furry friends. :D

mm

Maybe I have it confused, but I've heard that it can help get rid of stretch marks as well as scars, over time. Vitamin E and/or Cocoa Butter. Enjoy the pampering!

Thanks for those responses!

So far I'm using it on scars, and I massaged some of it into my hands today...it felt good, and I swear my hands are softer now than they have ever been.

After having two kids, if Vitamin E works on stretch marks, I am trying it! lol

My little cat is a long-haired thing, and would likely turn her nose up at the vitamin E...she's just that way. ;) So I guess it will be just for my use. :)

Thanks, all. I appreciate the ideas.

A little goes a long way. I don't wipe off excess. I simply use a little bit and let it soak in.

As for strengthening nails? I'm not sure that it helps, but Biotin helps. You can find Biotin at a Wal-Mart for under $2/bottle. Give it a month or two to show results, but it helps with strengthening nails and hair. :)

Thank you for that advice. I'll look for Biotin at the store the next time I venture out.

If I can dig myself out from under all this work! lol

Thanks again. :)

Vitamin E is the shit

I love it.

I use concentrated vitamin E cream on everything. I have a moisturiser that is specially formulated with 10,000 international unites of concentrated Vitamin E. It heals scar tissue at the rate of 1% per day.

So many beneficial effects.

Assists in promoting cell regeneration in scar tissue, improves skin elasticity, minimises scarring, helps guard against visible signs of ageing...

I could go on

I'm a big advocate of it, because I've seen the difference it's made on my skin.

The End.
