Good Info. It shows the flexibility lanuage can have and the diversity of opinions in grammar.
I tend to use a lot of commas, because I write long sentenses, and want to break the clauses cleanly.
Colons are the hard ones for me to figure out.

I use colons to seperate collateral independent clauses. Like, Jacks opinion of comma useage is a good one for the following reasons: 1. blah, 2. blah blah, and 3. blah blah blah.

I guess that is whay I don't use colons, I use very few collarteral independant clauses.
