I can think of two reasons the United States gets bad results despite spending more on health care than any other country.

First, a lot of the money that is spent on health care in the United States goes to insurance companies, rather than to hospitals, medicine, doctors, and nurses.

Second, many people in the United States have no health coverage at all. By the time they go to an emergency room serious problems have become much worse than they would be if regular doctor's visits were paid for.

I think the reason so many Americans tolerate Americas health system is selfishness. Those who are opposed to a single payer health care system think, "I do not want to pay their health bills."
