teacher experiencing symptoms chalked it down to allergies and refused to get tested for some days
"On occasion during this time, the teacher read aloud unmasked to the class despite school requirements to mask while indoors," the study said.

In the days that followed, among the teacher's 24 students, all ineligible for vaccination because they are under 12, 22 received tests and 12 were found to be positive.

Eight out of 10 students in the front two rows tested positive -- an attack rate of 80 percent -- as well as three out of 14 in the three back rows.

The school required students to mask, each student's desk was set six feet apart from the next, windows were open on both sides of the classroom, and a high-efficiency particulate air (HEPA) filter was placed in front of the class white board.

Six students in a separate grade also tested positive.
However, genetic sequencing of available samples confirmed they were all part of the same outbreak, and identified the ultra contagious Delta variant as responsible. Eight additional cases were identified among parents and siblings of children in the two grades. Among four parents infected, three were fully vaccinated.

Twenty-two of the 27 total infected people (81 percent) reported symptoms, the most frequently reported were fever, followed by cough, headache and sore throat.

Teacher placed on administrative leave for comparing anti-maskers to KKK

A Nebraska teacher was reportedly placed on administrative leave after sharing a social media post that compared anti-maskers to the Ku Klux Klan.

The Elkhorn Public Schools teacher, who has not been publicly identified,*reposted a meme on Facebook that depicted a klansman in a white hooded robe next to a medical face mask, news station*WOWT reported.

“Isn’t it strange they can breathe in this (a Ku Klux Klan hood) but not this (a medical mask)” the post read.

Some of the students’ parents slammed the teacher for comparing mask critics to the hate group.

Good thing it wasn't my child. I would be in jail tonight for doing the right thing.

Did you people even bother to read that article?

The first take away is that the Wuhan Flu spreads masked or not. That's been true from the beginning and is the very nature of an aerosol spread virus. I have to assume here that the teacher wasn't going from student to student in the first row and reading right into their faces.

We know that the vaccine is not as effective against the Delta variant as opposed to the original. That being the case there is no way of knowing whether the teacher would have spread the virus even had she been vaccinated. In this case it's obvious that she was one of those mildly symptomatic cases. I'm not making a case against vaccination here, merely pointing out the factual reality.

The Wuhan Flu is going to be with us far into the foreseeable future. A constant battle between us and the bug. We counter with a new vaccine, it mutates, and on it goes. We either learn to live with it or retreat into paranoid knee jerk reactions. The science to date indicates that natural immunity is a far better barrier to the disease than the vaccination. That knowledge would seem to indicate that the faster it spreads through the population, the better. The down side to that strategy is that a lot of people will succumb to the disease.

We also know that pre-existing conditions tend to point to bad outcomes. But that's always been the case with respiratory viral infections. It's not that the Wuhan Flu is any worse than any other flu, merely that it's something that we as humans have never had to deal with before. As such it is especially brutal to those that are susceptible.

I suggest that you stop trying to order everyone else's lives about based on your own fears. Take care of yourself as you see fit. Neither masks nor vaccines are going to save you if you're one of those particularly susceptible. Nor is demanding that everyone else wear masks or get vaccines.

Me? I've had the Wuhan Flu (very mild case) and the vaccine. I wash my hands and stay away from obviously ill people. I don't wear a mask unless put in a position where I'm forced to and I don't 'social distant' from my friends and neither do the people issuing the orders or those that are charged with enforcing the orders. Testing positive isn't a death sentence or even a sign that you're going to be particularly sick. As a matter of fact testing positive and not being particularly ill should be celebrated.

So take care of yourself and those around you as best you can and quit trying to order everyone else's life while getting on with your own.

Chipbutty, you should not talk to topics that are Science-based.

You only affirm your lack of education and
susceptibility to propaganda.

This has to be a rhetorical question.
You know they have a universal translator between their moving lips and lizard brain.

Like a Soviet Citizen terrified of the KGB, they take scientific facts and
massage them into a more politically-correct, acceptable format.

In this instance, the knee-jerk response is,
"Don't blame the Chinese, that is both
"Racist and xenophobic. The real
"blame lies with Trump."

It was.

They're not even blaming Trump anymore, just demanding that everyone comply with their notion of the right way to deal with the Wuhan Flu and more than willing to use the power of the state to make it so.

As pointed out in the report linked in the OP, masks are of limited value in fighting this bug.

People have been putting that last fact out here
to great derision since the original outbreak;
gaps in the cloth are larger than the virus.

The virus remains active in the air for up to 3 hours and active on cloth for up to 2 days (three days on metal/plastic surfaces copper being an exception). The article points out that the windows were open and a high efficiency hepa filter was in use, to no avail.

The article also states that there were no hospitalizations although it fails to mention whether those infected suffered any serious symptoms. From what we know of how the virus effects the young it's probably safe to assume that most, if not all, of the cases were asymptomatic.

The virus doesn't care about one's politics, Whiteguide.

Funny it's the most important factor when an (R) does it.

Just another in a long list of double standards you operate by.

Good thing it wasn't my child. I would be in jail tonight for doing the right thing.

You can't even fucking wipe your own ass without a federal bureaucrat from your beloved nanny state telling you how and when to do it.

The only thing you would have done is called a late night funny man or CNN to cry about your fee fees and wound up a joke on Twitter.

88-Year-Old Professor Resigns Mid-Class When Student Refuses to Wear Mask

"At that point, I said that whereas I had risked my life to defend my country while in the Air Force, I was not willing to risk my life to teach a class with an unmasked student during this pandemic," said the college professor.

good for him! the school should be looking out for their elderly staff, ALL their staff, as much as the students. With his underlying comorbidities and the knowledge of other sick students (absent) from his class, he took the wisest route.

The teacher should lose her job. Teachers are there to protect and nurture the little fuckers, not to infect them with the trump virus.
