Yeah, I did the same thing.

But I divorced her 15 years ago she's even more miserable than ever and it always makes me smile.

Yeah, if you get nothing else out of a bad marriage at least you are left with an endless supply of inspiration for good btb-stories. It's a fine example of the good old principle of making lemonade if life gives you lemons...

Many years ago I had an acquaintance who insinuated herself in to my and my now-ex's lives. She was incredibly toxic until a few of us realized she had the arrogance to believe that we were all willing to trust in everything she told us without any sort of outside verification. Once several of her "victims" started to compare notes her manipulative games were over.

I can understand the feeling sorry for them aspect. She was a sad woman with a lot of issues who had, I think, more or less coated herself with acid for protection.

To my embarrassment, I had a somewhat public showdown with her. I'm sure some poor innocent souls thought I was a bad person after that. Heh, ends sometimes do justify means; she removed herself from our lives completely after that. Immense relief followed.
