The law, HB 15, requires a physician performing an abortion to provide the woman who is seeking to terminate her pregnancy information about the possible medical consequences of the procedure, information on alternatives to having an abortion, as well as a sonogram of the fetus and an audio recording of the fetal heartbeat. There are exceptions if the pregnancy is the result of rape or incest, the woman is a minor or if the fetus is suffering from an irreversible medical condition. Unless the woman lives more than 100 miles from a facility providing an abortion, the woman must wait for 24 hours after viewing the sonogram.

My opinion -

what goes on in a doctors office should be between the patient and their doctor. I dont want the government telling me I have to have unnecessary procedures. If a woman is required to get a sonogram then men should have a prostate exam every time they go to get their Viagra refilled.

I like what the one female legislator did in retaliation...proposed mandatory digital rectal exams for all men asking for viagra prescriptions.

Are you talking about Janet Howell in Virginia? Or did that also happen in Texas?

Since it's a medical procedure mandated by the state, will the state also provide funding to pay for said procedure? And if not why not?

Comshaw

Hah, providing free medical care?
Even if the exam is being forced on women, they are still footing the bill

I don't know how I feel about this. Since I'm against abortion I understand the point of the bill and on some level agree with the concept. Since I'm pro-choice I think they need to shut the fuck up.
Comes down to it, it's Texas and everyone in Texas is a moron.
