California Governor Gavin Newsom has cancelled the annual Christmas tree lighting in Sacramento as a protest against Israel was scheduled by the Regional Coalition for Palestinian Rights had declared their intention to hold a protest on Tuesday during the tree lighting.

The group has been calling for a ceasefire, which had been in effect for a few days until Hamas refused to abide by the terms of the ceasefire agreement. The group also said they wanted to "out Gov. Gavin Newsom for hiding from the public because he doesn't want to face their anger at his shameful stance in regard to the genocide in Gaza."

The tree lighting will continue remotely and the public will only be permitted to watch via live stream. A sign was placed near the site of the tree, reading "KEEP OUT, NO TRESSPASSING."

"As we continue to see protests across the country impacting the safety of events of all scales – and for the safety and security of all participating members and guests including children and families – the ceremony this year will be virtual," a spokesperson from the governor's office said.

This is Gavin Newsom admitting once again he isn't man enough to be Governor. He wasn't man enough to carry out the death penalty which is the law in CA and now he isn't man enough to face up to a minority of domestic enemies who want to attack Christianity in California.

In a country which guarantees everyone the right to speak freely, vote for their preferred candidate and support liberty and justice without regard to sex/age/religion/race/etc, your "check boxes" are meaningless. What I'm complaining about is people who think they are "more American" than someone else, which is WHAT THIS THREAD IS ABOUT.

What I'm complaining about is people like you who think I should be grateful that my ancestors were forcibly brought here and now I should be HAPPY just to be here, and should be willing to accept lesser status and lesser rights and worse treatment than the non-colored people who have greater claim to being "American" than anyone else because they stole the place from the people who were already here.
