On a day when there was supposed to be the first march for the first Americans, some members of the Catholic faith took it upon themselves to show what kind, caring, and loving people they are and how much their faith has impressed upon them to do unto others by taunting and harassing a U.S. veteran.
Nathan Phillips, who is not only a Vietnam Veteran but also a Native American, was singing outside the Lincoln Memorial, a memorial to a man who said in his famous Gettysburg Address: Four score and seven years ago our fathers brought forth on this continent, a new nation, conceived in Liberty, and dedicated to the proposition that all men are created equal.
The individuals, all white males, identified as members of the Covington Catholic High School in Park Hills, Kentucky, put on MAGA hats and chanted at Phillips, "Build that wall!"
The Diocese of Covington and Covington Catholic High School said that "the matter is being investigated and we will take appropriate action, up to and including expulsion."
After all, when your religion was intimately involved in the extermination of some of the Native American tribes, and both the persecution of and forced conversion to Christianity of others, what else are you going to say? It's not like teaching your religion could have done anything to prevent this or your god could have struck down these fine, upstanding individuals.

"This is indigenous land, you're not supposed to have walls here. We never did for a millennia. We never had a prison; we always took care of our elders, took care of our children, always provided for them, taught them right from wrong. I wish I could see that energy ... put that energy to making this country really, really great," Phillips said, wiping away tears.
