It is silly to rant against troubled souls who should never have been allowed near children. At times I think we wet our panties too much over imagined pedophiles and fail to protect children who are in danger of even worse abuse from ignorant, ill or weak or neglectful adults.

Starrkers's story seems impossible to pre-guess, but selena's and the two cases here are so different and upsetting;

Just gonna say: I don't think it's silly to "rant" against those that those that should have never been near children or against the "imagined" phedophile. Been around to many of those "So called" imaginary one's that seemed to be the epitome of society and in the dark were monsters.

Why can't we put our attention to both pedophiles/Catholic Church and to Social Services. It's not an either or.

I'm not excusing what the guy did in any way, and I'm sure I'll get flamed for this, but here goes:

Yes, what he did was horrible, but from what the story says, he was a model parent until some kind of psychotic break or something similar occurred. He apparently wasn't an abuser, wasn't some kind of monster, but a normal parent who had something go horribly wrong inside. He didn't try to hide what he did in the least.

That's certainly how it looks. I just saw an article saying he and his estranged wife had just reached agreement on a shared custody arrangement giving him more time with his children.
Everything I've seen with comment frm people who know him is the same - he was a devoted father and there was no inkling of anything like this coming.
