British Theatres Ban Ad With Lord’s Prayer Because It “Could Cause Offense”….

Digital Cinema Media (DCM), the advertising conglomerate that supplies ads for 80% of British cinemas, has banned an ad from the Church of England because it contains the Lord’s Prayer.

The director of communications for the Church of England Arun Arora told CNN that initially DCM agreed to air the ad, which was set to air before the upcoming Star Wars movie. “We said: ‘We are religious, we are the Church of England. Is there a problem with that?’ They said, ‘no that’s fine.’ They were very happy and welcoming and even offered us a 50% discount on the price of advertising slots.”

But DCM later rejected the ad. “Some advertisements — unintentionally or otherwise — could cause offense to those of differing political persuasions, as well as to those of differing faiths and indeed of no faith,” they said in a statement.

Why do so many Americans here feel compelled to post about what goes on in Britain, or post about "freedom of speech" regarding a country where the First Amendment does not apply? They're a democracy, kind of; let them sort it all out.

I think extremists and press like daily mail serve to push middle of the road people and lefts further to the left in rebuttal of the nonsense and diatribe of hatred and extremes they post.

If more sensible discussion with less hate were had it could be that more actual discussion and solution could be found over where to proceed and how best to behave in society, and vote to enable politicians to more clearly be guided to act on our collective coherent wishes. While extremists to each extreme speak offensive rubbish and bicker over position the reality over situations cannot really be discussed.
