UK Dom Men

Hi,

There don't seem to be many UK folk on here. Anyone want to say hello?

There are a few UK people about, men and women.

But a few have wandered off into the sunset happily doing things in real life :)

There was a UK thread around here for a while.

If I can find it I will bump it, but I think it became a bit dusty due to lack of use.

evening!

Hi everyone,

Great to have some replies. Nice to make contact with some people on this side of the pond.

Hi everyone, I'm from the UK too. Doesn't look like there's many of us judging by the number of replies.

 If I were feeling normally curmudgeonly this morning, I'd probably ask Etoile or KC to move this thread to the Personals fora, but since I'm not, and it doesn't appear that the thread is going to survive long anyway, due to the small number of UK posters available to it, I won't. It doesn't appear to be significant enough to warrant their efforts to move it. ;)

However, I would suggest to the original poster that she (presumed from the screen name) might want to try the Personals region of Lit for more responses.

Still curmudgeonly enough to try and shit on her thread a little bit though
No shit intended... just suggesting that the Personals section might bring more responses than a forum intended for discussion of BDSM topics.

Trust me: If I intend to shit on a thread, I have sufficient arsenal to do so.

"It doesn't appear to be significant enough to warrant their efforts to move it." Oh look, you shat.
Sorry - you're being perhaps a bit over-sensitive. The *intent* of that statement was that it wasn't long enough and drawing enough responses for them to consider it an impediment to the business of this forum, which is the discussion of BDSM topics. Sorry I wasn't clear enough. Can we drop it so the thread *doesn't* get long enough or draw enough attention to cause them to need to move it?

I didn't read this as a personals thread.

I read it as someone trying to make friends with people in the UK, as many on here seem to be, and are, from the US.

As for the title, well, I put that down to various options:

  • A presumption that all Doms are male.
  • Not knowing what to call the thread
  • Not thinking it through and not realising some may presume it was a pick up line.

Hate to point out the bleeding obvious but time and again we see that despite the words being the same, the intent is often different when UK or US people write.

And yes, I am feeling curmudgeonly enough to be slightly peeved that a thread aimed at talking to people is seen as something else.

I have looked for the UK thread, but the search function is often lacking and it doesn't appear, or I don't have the patience to wait forever whilst the site thinks about bringing up a list of sites it could be.

A great welcome for a new person to lit.

Well done Sir_W

Okay, I surrender. Apparently I'm the grumpy ol' man yelling, "Get off my lawn!" to the kids across the street and down two lots, and too senile to understand that sometimes a cigar is just a cigar (or, in the current instance, an attempt to make a connection with people in a particular part of the world is just an attempt to make a connection with people in a particular part of the world).

Mea culpa, mea culpa, mea maxima culpa.

I usually try to be kind, considerate and helpful to new folks who can claim at least semi-literacy (which the instant poster certainly can). It seems this time I've tripped over my tongue. Or my schlong. Or something. I'm still not going to allow anyone to spank me. :p

And Rockgirl? Welcome to the BDSM Talk and Café fora. *Most* of the people here are usually pretty nice (present company excepted, I guess).

Not male, or overly dominant, but from the East Midlands, so hi! It would be nice to talk to people who are awake at the same time as I am :D

And sorry to drag up things past, but I feel that phrases like 'it doesn't appear the thread is going to survive long' and 'it doesn't appear significant enough' come off a little as though you're lording it over the OP and her thread. It's one little discussion. It doesn't interest you? That's fine, but there's no need to be snippy.

You didn't even point out my spelling and punctuation errors.

I only spotted them this evening.

Yes, you are normally kind, considerate and helpful - maybe your recent spell in hospital made you a little grumpy.

Normal service has resumed I hope :)
