Two robotic probes meet in orbit above uninhibited paradise planet, and make digital virtual love expressed in pure math trying to understand each other, and make a mutual discovery of new physics in combination.

One of human origin, so we would have reason to care, the other alien of roughly similar tech level, neither armed, but that doesn't necessarily mean benevolent (known us especially).

Yes, even if human built, that's very non-human, even non-biological in nature, so the very concept of sex has to be redefined to fit our pair of unexpected lovers.

Not sure how... the writing of such might be, but here's certainly ecstatic potential, I believe.

It would be difficult to make it titillating or erotic, but I like the premise a lot 🤩

Maybe the Earth probe has a virtual avatar interface, like Cortana from Halo or something, to make it easier for it's human creators to interact with it?

And then when "she" makes contact with the alien probe, it creates a compatible avatar of its own, allowing them to have something like sex that humans would understand?

Alternatively, lean into the disembodied nature of it, describe the act of lowering your firewall and accepting a ping or a data package in erotic terms!

The sense of penetration, the tense combination of apprehension and curiosity and desire, the ecstasy of connecting with another consciousness after millennia alone in the vastness of space 🄰

Looooong ago I read a sci fi short story told from the perspective of an alien race exploring space (though, initially, you don't know that and could assume it was earthlings exploring space in the future).

They come across a planet inhabited by multiple species... some appear to be primitive versions of themselves (you assume apes).

They observe and see that there's another semi-intelligent species of animal that has infected their evolution-mates. Or maybe they are parasites, because they enter and exit the hosts. Or maybe it's a symbiotic relationship, because sometimes the creatures seem to feed them. In the end they conclude that it's an infestation, or worse... enslavement, since the parasites seem to control the host bodies at times. So they decide to eradicate the parasites with something like bug spray over the planet.

Of course, the "big reveal" is that the race exploring the stars is sentient and mechanical in origin, but, very advanced. They see cars and other machinery on the planet as we might see apes or other mammals. And they see humans as the parasites that they plan to exterminate.

BUT, perhaps... those two probes you mentioned of basic alien and human technology mated in a way that they then "evolved" into a sentient species that, following old legend called "source code" seemed to indicate the origin of their species came from earth. And, there's some disagreement among the religious types who point at an old artifact from "mother" that shows a circle with a humanoid drawing... which influenced their "evolution" and why they have a similar shape.

So, before killing what some claim might be their true ancestors, they come to earth to be sure... and first try mating with the machines. They are a little Borg-like that way.

Humans are baffled by the invasion which seems to be destroying every vehicle on early... by... fucking it to rubble?

After the machines, primitive as they are, don't respond as expected, they try plan B. Mating with those softer versions of themselves...
