So, my boyfriend insists that he thinks there are BDSM undercurrents in the Kill Bill movies. And although I think he enjoyed Secondhand Lions more then the Secretary this weekend... I think there is definitely interest in watching films together that are either BASED on the BDSM lifestyle or in which there are noticable references or perhaps which have a certain atmosphere which strikes home with those wired more kinkily.

So what movies should I add to the list?

I ran some searches here on lit because I thought I remembered a similar thread but couldn't find it, so let's start from scratch ;)

The Sound of Music. Christopher Plummer (the Captain) is very much an AR/OCD Dominant type, and Julie Andrews (Maria) spends the whole movie topping from the bottom.

Of course, we can't forget The Story of O, or 9 1/2 Weeks, or Another 9 1/2 Weeks. But then, they're standards, and hardly worth mentioning in this crowd.

Edited to get a title right. <sigh>

Exit to Eden is the only one I can think of. It's a comedy, but definately BDSM.

Edited because I got the name wrong! Thanks DeeDee

Exit to Eden comes to mind.

Also, My Fair Lady. Look at the power dynamics between the professor and Eliza.

well, they are worth mentioning for the purpose of putting together an all encompassing list for vistors to this thread of all experience levels

I want to add that it's not so much obviously kinky films that spike the interest so much as films with hidden kinky agendas....

Any 40's film noir is a study in power dynamics.

Hmmm. For some reason I feel confident that you would be right at home if you woke up one day to find everything in black, white and shades of grey.. ;)

Well, I don't know if his films had kinky agendas, but John Wayne movies almost always had a scene where he takes the leading lady over his knee and gives her a good spanking. He sometimes takes whatever is handy to use on her, too. In one movie, he used some little metal hand shovel.

And, to top it off, the women act as if they like it, just as if they deserved the ass whipping they get. Of course that's AFTER the spanking. During, they tend to struggle and squrim.

And, he had no problem doing it in public, and sometimes had the public rooting for him (never for the lady).

Now, you also have to like John Wayne movies, but I do. And, because most of his movies were westerns, those scenes can also stir up a little sexual tension. Tha Duke knew how to do it right. No?

Oh, and there used to be a web site that had nearly every movie, made for the cinema or TV which had a spanking scene in it. Believe me, there are quite a few.

No.

The only John Wayne movie I can sit through is "The Quiet Man", and it was set in Ireland!

Well, you must be in your 20s? But then, you could rent the movies and fast forward to those scenes. Too bad you don't care for the Duke. And, he wasn't a great actor. He played every part the same way, just about. But, he was the Duke. I guess you had to be there.;)
