I am not big on thanksgiving day sweet potatoes. They are SWEET potatoes...why are you adding sugar and marshmallows? That is not how cooking is done. Paring sweet with, Oh I dunno, sweet.
Sweet goes with sour or savory or salty.
Try this before thanksgiving. If you hate it you can throw it away and you are out no more than 5 minutes.
Take a sweet-potato put it the microwave and hit the potato button.
Take it out, it will be hotter than a potato. roll it on the counter with an oven mit squishing it a bit.
Slit it open, and or peel the skin off. Some inside will stick to the skin just basically throw away anything that isnt easy to get to.
Mash it, add butter and salt and pepper.
Nothing else.
There is no such thing as too sweet. Of COURSE sweet goes with sweet. Sweet goes with everything. There is no food that cannot be candied.
