Tumblr banning many pics

The next 2 weeks on tumblr are gonna be a female nipple presentation orgy. ;)

Oddly, tumblr did not flag this as explicit.

But this one was flagged.

I guess they have some algorithm kinks to work out.

Yeah, I've already noticed the algorithm kinks in how Tumblr is responding. My thoughts are this is a knee jerk reaction to Tumblr being dinged for not being more astute enough to immediately block/ban or remove bot posted porn images. I suspect they've done a cost analysis and don't see the feasibility to enough moderators to clean up their mess.
FWIW YouTube has gone to a algorithm review system that's created a loss of funding for creators. The have a skewed disparity in their response as well.

Tumblr soon to go the way of MySpace and Flooze. And the new owners, Oath, don’t care. They bought it in the first place to co-opt a competitor, and the Tumblr founder is no longer there to advocate

I kept a private directory on Tumblr to save special photos without having them on my hard drive (never know if I'm going to have to take the machine for service, etc.). Not knowing if private directories are going to be affected by this change, I just took my stash of 'keeper' photos off the site. I'm going to make a password-protected flash drive for those going forward.

Interesting . . . Last I'd heard, Yahoo owned the site

And Oath owns Yahoo, Huff Post, et al

Interesting, and Verizon owns Oath . . .

Oath Inc.
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Oath Inc. is a subsidiary of Verizon Communications[4] that serves as the umbrella company of its digital content subdivisions, including AOL and Yahoo!.[5][6][7] Verizon acquired AOL on June 23, 2015[8][9] and Yahoo!'s operating business on June 13, 2017.[10] Within Oath, AOL and Yahoo! maintain their respective brands.[11]

Tim Armstrong, Oath's former CEO, said the new company name was chosen to convey Oath's commitment to the digital media business.[2]
Oath will become Verizon Media Group on January 1, 2019.[12][13]

I'm guessing the proximity of the date of the purge and the date of the name change are not a coincidence. Verizon doesn't want the porn associated with their name and/or risking a conservative-driven regulatory backlash against their other businesses, which are where their money is made.

Woot, nipple orgy.

Seriously though, the algorithm is a little wonky. Lots of randomness flagged. I guess I'll have to go back to PMing dick pics instead.

Sooooo.... what exactly are “keepers” pics? And there any PMs sent that say something like this:
Dear SMNaughty, I have declared a select numbers of your pic as “keeper” and some of your most lustful images are now living in an encrypted file via AF computer? Now, of course I’m not admitting to anything other than dancing pandas and waterfalls in Tehitii living in my Tumblr. Or that I even have Tumblr.
I’ll await to see if I’m a “keepers.” 😉

I've been seeing a lot of tumblr posters saying goodbye before tumblr deletes their blogs.

Is that really happening? I thought explicit content was being flagged and then deleted, but will whole blogs be deleted, too?

Yours should be fine . . . for the most part ;)

Tumblr is really start to turn into assholes. I post this, and they flag it saying it may include "Adult Content." Well, fuck you Tumblr! I'm getting a better idea of the assholes who are running that shit show!

Rant over. There are better things to get worked up over.

Well . . . It's the 17th and my Tumblr is still there.

Will it slowly fade?

Not sure what I expected. Maybe a lot of blank spots . . . It'll be interesting to see what happens.

Time will tell and some nice Tumblr pages have already self-deleted which was sad.

This looks like one of the alternative sites some are going to.

So word on the street is that Pornhub is thinking about buying tumblr and returning it to the good old days (a few months ago) of super porn!

The problem is (as Suz Anne said on another thread) Pornhub is owned by Mindgeek which pretty much owns all of porn (more or less) and anything we post on tumblr will become a Mindgeek controlled image.

Shit's getting weird, Peeps!
