Nice evening last night. Gathered 'round the chiminea talkin' about our SHTF planes.

I have a chiminea.

It's mainly a lawn/deck decoration now...

I use mine quite a bit in the spring and fall.

Allergies keep me in during the fall and spring is a big ol' rain event.

I got the ceramic chiminea. It needs to be warmed slowly with a slow building kind of fire.


I used it a bit more like a burn barrel, so it cracked.


It reminded me of the last ex, so I didn't mind breaking it up and using it for aggregate in the parking area.

Good morning!

I was looking forward to some time sitting out by the fire, but all outside burning has been banned for the time being due to a lack of rain. And to think a couple of months ago too much rain was a thing.

Yep, we've gotten virtually no rain since the 3rd week of August. So, the govnah said he'd rather not have the hills ablaze with anything other than the fall tree colors.

I hope ya'll get some rain/snow before the "1st Annual Rail Splitting" contest.

I'd fire up the chiminea...

Who knew six months ago, these words would be said by me, Boy do we need some rain folks!
Otherwise, I don't get an outside fire. And just when I found an old perc coffee pot for the fire pit too. Not to mention the woodland challenge.

Which makes me think of the impending winter. All the reports from the persimmon seeds are spoon shaped seeds.

Oh, I don't go outside unless I have to
at least not until the first hard frost.

A hard frost is the next thing needed here to kill the hemorrhagic virus killing the deer.

I know, I know, I bitch about them eating my garden, but I don't want them sick either. It's my personal conundrum.

The deer have been laying low around here.

They know hunting season is just around the corner...

Last fall I had a couple of close calls with deer. I'd rather they lay low, and not be playing in the road. Crazy goat creatures got no concept of cars and personal space.

I'll keep my fingers crossed for that freeze.

They aren't afraid of Dachshunds either...

That freeze is needed the reported number of dead deer just in my county is in triple digits

It sounds like you may have an over population problem. The Whitetail have thrived in the presence of man.
