Another shitty, rainy day. Just what I need.

There isn't even shit on television today. I will have to settle down with a good book.

Lots to do over the next couple of days. Heading over to Vat's for T'day. Get to teach the grandkids all manner of ways to torment their parents. Revenge is sweet.

Has anyone else noticed that Wat seems to have picked up a bit of an accent, or is it a twang, while working this last job?

Now that you mention it, it does seem that way. Might have something to do with one of his legs being shorter than the other now. :D

You tell him, he won't yell at you.

Best online laugh of the morning. Thank you.

Actually, since surgery, the surgical leg is slightly shorter than the one what gots bone still innit. There's a wee cookie in my b00t to help even it out. I may need to talk to the P/T people about an adjustment.

Breakfast with Teh Gurrlz was fabulous. It was just so damned pleasant, and fun, with a bit of silly tossed in. And they discussed, in front of me, of course, how I need to have some woman boss me around. I didn't let on that I control/manipulate them by letting them think that they're in charge. There's hope for you, Biden, just wait-n-see.

Gotta pack to blow this hole. Bye bye, Swamp . . . .

One of my favorite hotels, The Hotel Congress down in Tucson, turns 100 today. I'm not sure what it looked like when it open because for a while it had a third-story added with wood frame construction on top of to brick floors that remain today. That third floor catching on fire was what led to John Dillinger being captured across the street in the alley next to the Rialto Theater.

I know how you're a stickler for details being accurate...

JOHN DILLINGER

Hotel Congress would have continued its charming existence as just another place of lodging for road weary guests, were it not for the events of January 22, 1934. That fateful day changed forever the building and its unique place in Tucson history. Early in the morning, a fire started in the basement of the hotel and spread up the elevator to the third floor. This fire, and the subsequent chain of events, led to the capture of one of the country’s most notorious criminals – John Dillinger.

After a series of bank robberies, Dillinger and his gang came to Tucson to “lay low”, residing on the third floor under aliases. Using the switchboard, the front desk clerk notified hotel guests of the fire and guests were evacuated using aerial ladders. On the urgent request of the gang, and encouraged by a generous tip, two firemen retrieved the heavy luggage they left behind. It was later discovered that the bags contained a small arsenal and $23,816 in cash.

Later, these astute firemen recognized the gang in True Detective Magazine. A stakeout resulted in the capture of Dillinger at a house on North Second Avenue. In a space of five hours, without firing a single shot, the police of small town Tucson had done what the combined forces of several states and the FBI had failed to accomplish. When captured, Dillinger simply muttered, “Well, I’ll be damned”.

We still celebrate his capture each third weekend in January with Dillinger Days, which is a fun event featuring reenactments, food and music, tours and lectures.

Hate to continue to be a pain, but you changed it and it's still wrong. He was captured at least 3 miles from that alley. I'm sure you'd want to be correct with your info.

You're welcome!

The world needs more people minding their own and being anti-social

Yesterday I ventured out into the world and completed 80% of my holiday shopping, just the little stuff left to get and then I took the pups for a drive. We ended up stopped watching a parade and some woman took the time to try and convince me that my dogs were hard done by sleeping on the backseat where it was warm and dry rather than standing in the cold drizzle trying to play with all the little people and disrupting their enjoyment of the parade. I got back in the car and watched from there, less stupid.

When the phone rings and I answer, only to be told, "I thought you was dead". Nope, says I, "I just checked and I have a pretty strong pulse."

It was a wrong number.
