Morning all.

Yeah, it's fall. The cool nights and warm days continue. As a bonus with the pleasant weather come low utility bills. No A/c running and the heat hasn't been brought on-line yet.

Spent the day bringing a new 'puter on-line. I swear to God, for a software company MicroCrap has caused a lot of hardware to be required. Is Gates et al getting a kick back from Intel, or is it the other way around?

Yes, saving money!

I've been on Macs for so long now that I barely remember DOS machines...

The Mac's go through the same evolution. They have too. The software developers keep creating more functionality (larger programs) that require increased processor speed and more memory/storage. Moore's law in action.

Since I don't use it for real work anymore, that's not much of an issue...

:D

I do. I use it for 3D modeling CAD/CAM stuff. The old system worked but with each new software release it just got slower and slower. So a new system was required. It did make a difference but I found that I also needed to upgrade my graphics engine as well. About the only good news is that I should be set for at least 4 more years. Maybe by then I'll be essentially finished with all of the mechanical design shit and just won't have to worry about upgrades any more.

There's a commercial running urging students to bring their Bibles to school on the Fourth.
That's going to cause a lot of triggering...

That'll suck up a few hours of the news cycle.

Edited to add; Not that long ago it woulnd't have been news worthy in the least.

No doubt, but now everything is a big deal when it comes to our wanna-be veterans...

When you try to make everything some sort of political crisis you tend to ruin everything. The regular folks out there are beginning to grow weary of this shit.

By all means, forward this to NotAJ's off-board bro, Que. We've been telling him this for years but he still keeps up making political pists in every thread on the General Board.

Why is bringing bibles to school a big deal? Aren't students allowed to read anything they want in their freetime? Not trying to stir things up, but as long as it's not adult/hate material it's okay for students here to read anything as long as they are reading.

And it seems like only a couple of weeks ago you were uncovering your pool, summer went too fast and all the signs here are pointing to a hard winter.

I find this GB intersectionality theory to be beyond simplistic and stupid.

First of all, as a White SE European immigrant, the GB SJWers consider me to be both second class, and to have 'DA white privilege'.
WTF?

Secondly, after emigrating I came across all sorts of attitudes .
I came across local non-Whites who had a chip on their shoulder and tried everything in their power to sabotage me. Other local non-Whites went out of their way to befriend me or help me.
Same with local Whites.
As to immigrants - it always felt easier for me to relate to non-White immigrants than to White/non-White locals, cause similar life experiences /feeling uprooted and stuff.

Yes, discrimination, racist/xenophobic/ageist/misogynistic/homophobic attitudes still exist, unfortunately. But at the end of the day, it's also about one's character & one's attitude towards their particular life experiences.
