Turns out there's an actual common thing with blood relatives going gonzo for each other if they are separated. The Westermarcke effect never has a chance to develop, and ever since they made it easier to find birth parents (adoptions and such) apparently lots of them develop sexual feelings towards reunited relatives. Oedipus has an excuse, and a TWO disorders.

Now to disappear again, for months on end.

Huh, maybe I should be glad PA is less than progressive about opening adoption records. I was adopted as an infant, 5 days old. (And brought home on my Mom's birthday. :D)

I have my own GSA experience. When they were 30, I was reunited with my child given up for adoption in infancy. We have coexisted uneasily for 15 years now. Yes, we felt strong sexual attraction; no, we didn't act on it. During visits, we spend much time in the same house but not the same room, not for long; that's probably a safety mechanism. I focus on being a good grandparent rather than a seductive parent. That's all I'll say on the subject.

Same thing with Lord Byron and his half-sister Augusta, if the rumours are true; they barely met before adulthood.

I just think it's a good plot bunny for incest writers. I mean, they already do it, but now they know that there's a justification.

Ive seen this story and its bogus.

Shes making it all up.

The first dead giveaway?

"We went shopping because I'd outgrown all my shorts." Uh huh. At 18 you're still growing?

There's nothing here I would want to steal because every bit of it is already taken from a pretty clichéd D/d story to begin with. It's so obvious. I get people writing me all the time with "true" incest stories. They're all the same. The actual true ones, and there are, do not ever talk about it in such detail.

17, I think. The NYmag source article says she was 17 when they met and the shopping happened about five days later. The Jezebel article does go on to say "at 18, the law declares her fit to consent" but I think that's talking about her age now, not then.

Either way, still growing at 17-18 is late but certainly not impossible. The part I found harder to believe was where his parents etc were all cool with him marrying her.

If we're wrong and the story is true... ew ew ew. It's not the consanguinity that bugs me, it's the massive power imbalance combined with her background.

I was also adopted.
Family rumour had it I was about 6 months old when the paperwork was over.
One has to fight tooth & claw (and get the signature of a Legal Beagle) to get any information, although these days it is a bit easier as there are authorised organisations to help.

It could be true, but I doubt it.

Who needs emergency shorts shopping??? And taking Dad along to "model" for him? I don't think so. On a story on lit, maybe. I've seen that scenario a million times. I've never known a single girl, woman, female to actually "model" clothes for dad in the dressing area. It's so ridiculous. Dad poking his head in the changing area would never happen. Men don't go in there.

"I touched him and saw goosebumps up and down his arm." Yeah, right.

This girl is described as depressed and her mom has "mental illness." She may believe it in her mind. I'm not convinced.
