When I drive on highways, I pay the toll on my ez pass. When I buy gas, I pay the taxes as well. That is because I am consuming the good or service.
My neighbors who work at home do not have to pay those same taxes. That is fair. That is how it is supposed to be.
So, when you buy a shirt at Target and it costs an extra $1.50, you are helping to pay our national debt. Somebody has to. Tariffs are a tax on consumers, not just American citizens, obviously. That is literally how it works.

They refuse to admit that the potential for increased domestic manufacturing is a plus over time. American manufacturers pay higher wages therefore over time increased wages will outrun inflation.

That being said, the lefty loons would prefer to line the pockets of our foreign competitors than buy American goods, they bitch about minimum wages being too low but when real prosperity in the form of higher American manufacturing wages dips into liberal pockets they whine about tariffs, they whine about leveling the playing field. Typical leftist hypocrisy. Dems love to spend like drunken sailors but God forbid we try to spread some wealth to the middle class by creating good high paying jobs at home. Today’s inflation numbers benign as indicated by stock market numbers. You people cry wolf, you don’t know what you’re talking about! Just imagine if *TOO LATE* lowered interest rates.

That largely depends on what is being manufactured. I don't see a huge plus in manufacturing high volume, low margin items unless they are critical to national defense or essential goods. I would rather see us specialize in higher margin items or services where we enjoy comparative advantage.

There’s a good reason why the Fed focuses on the core inflation rate. Gas and food prices are volatile and impacted heavily by forces other than general inflation (OPEC production and bird flu for example).
