Trump team ultimatum: No more talks, time to vote

Ask someone whose deductible has climbed to $12,000.00.

Barry promised lower premiums and deductibles. How did that work out?
If you're so concerned about that, let your representatives know that they should fix it.

If you don't want to make your Congressman get off his ass to talk to you, go to your state house.

Trump’s plan B: Let Obamacare ‘explode’ so Democrats ‘will come to us’

A half-hour prior to when Speaker Ryan accepted his stunning loss Friday for not having been able to wrangle enough votes for his slipshod legislation to repeal and replace Obamacare, Robert Costa at The Washington Post received a call from President Trump, who, to no surprise, was less gracious in defeat.

Trump, not known for his ability to count and whip votes since he literally has zero experience passing legislation, boasted about how he’s got the Democrats right where he wants him. “As you know, I’ve been saying for years that the best thing is to let Obamacare explode and then go make a deal with the Democrats and have one unified deal,” Trump said. “And they will come to us, we won’t have to come to them.”

The president presumably was referring to using presidential powers, those ranging from guidance letters to executive actions to tightening regulations where possible, in order to discourage an effective performance for an interagency piece of legislation. “The beauty,” POTUS continued five minutes after the GOP healthcare vote was canceled, “is that [the Democrats] own Obamacare. So when it explodes, they come to us and we make one beautiful deal for the people.”

Ya know, for years Republicans had tried to kill Obamneycare. Something like 70 times they tried but just couldn't get it done.

Now, with the White House, House AND Senate in their control, they still can't get rid of it.

Makes one wonder how incompetent these people truly are.

About as competent as the dipshits that promised comprehensive HC reform and despite having all the power ACA, a republican scam, is the best they could manage.

You know shit's bad when even Breitbart has to admit "humiliating" defeat. Lol!

The comments are about what you'd expect. Some of 'em even make AJ look smart, and that's like saying a plate of dog vomit looks appetizing.

Isn't there some kind of unwritten rule about throwing stones & glass houses?

Ah, that signature flail! I see the alts are beginning the traditional mating dance of the delusional desperate asshole. I am sure we'll be seeing many more in the near future - probably a lot of trump-induced dick stroking that you won't want us quoting during the press conference for his resignation :) I don't think we'll have to wait too much longer.

I actually thought that the vote was going to be held.

Well, you are also a moron, so don't feel too bad - none of the rest of us had high hopes you'd get it right.

There will be a vote. Pulling the bill preserves it.

They should go Uber-Bannon in the House and let the Senate soften it and then all grudgingly vote for it.

*facepalm*

Obama knew he would NEVER get single payer through at the time.

Woulda shoulda coulda from all the brainiacs on lit who couldn't get a fart lit in reality.

It's fucking glorious....the government is so close to just falling apart.....*crosses fingers* I hope we get a total collapse by end of summer.

My fear was Bannon would convince Trump to actually do some good for the "forgotten man." Ha ha ha ha. He is playing this all wrong. Getting behind this piece of crap was absolutely the wrong way to go.

If they truly want to install their white supremacist agenda, they have to get "the people" on their side with concrete results, and then they can let loose all the racism they want.

And yet they are just being idiot Republicans ha

Obama knew he would NEVER get single payer through at the time.

Because the majority of (D)'s, including Obama, are just as corrupt and beholden to their corporate overlords as the (R)'s.

That's the only reason they couldn't do it.

They had the votes, but not the political will.

I truly feel sorry for you, Phelia.

So much anger, so much pain.

It's even more embarrassing that they couldn't even get it out of the House.

Strike one for the great negotiator. :D

Fucking cretin.

It would be the second time in a decade things have collapsed on a Republican president's watch.

Wow CNN absolutely F-in HATES Trump.

"The White House has suffered an ignominious defeat, and we cannot help but wonder how damaging this will be to this Presidency."

I literally can't think of a precedent for a President whose party controls both houses failing like this on his first big legislative effort. This is clearly the worst start for any administration in relatively recent history, if not ever (Trump is still alive, so I guess he beats William Henry Harrison).

But it's bad for all of them, not just Trump. They had already voted to repeal Obamacare over 50 times when they knew Obama would bail them out with a veto. They have never had a plan for what to do next, and this proves it.

And this passage from your link might offer a tip that Democrats should seriously consider:

It’s unclear where this rapprochement between the moderates and the disaffected conservatives will lead in the future. One possible clue can be discerned from the relationship that John Boehner developed with Democrats during the latter part of his speakership in 2015. Long stymied by the Freedom Caucus and its extreme tactics, Boehner eventually began reaching out to House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi and her lieutenants. Together, they succeeded in blocking several other government shutdown attempts. Democrats also helped Boehner preserve funding for Amtrak, which many conservatives were eager to shut down.

After Meadows filed his motion to depose Boehner as speaker, several Democratic members even suggested they might vote to support Boehner, although it never came to that.

“This stuff disrupting the business of the country, I’m not for it,” one of Pelosi’s top lieutenants, Rep. Jim Clyburn of South Carolina, said at the time. “He’s the elected speaker; I’m not going to vote to vacate the chair.”

It’s unclear whether Democrats would be willing to help Trump on anything, given the numerous outrageous accusations he has leveled at them. But in terms of legislative accomplishment, the White House may find it easier to deal with some Democrats than with the GOP’s far-right fringe.

And the Democrats would be well-advised of the potential dangers of not meeting Trump half way.

It is undeniably tempting for any Democrat to watch today's rift between the two major factions of the Republican party and think that all they need do for the next two years is stand gleefully by and watch an incompetent President preside over the GOP's demise.

But I would caution them to be careful what they wish for. Trump's mantra through this drama was that conservative Republicans were going to have to ultimately answer to their constituents for not taking advantage of this singular opportunity for repealing and replacing Obamacare.

But what if the conservative Republican base who elected Trump spins it another way and decides that Trump and Ryan were the real traitors to the cause by championing what Rand Paul called "Obamacare lite"? If that should happen, then Democrats AND moderate Republicans might have reason to fear a right wing future even more unstable than the one in power now.

Yeah, I know that might seem hard to believe, but don't discount the possibility. Trump is NOT a true conservative ideologue, and he has put the fear of God in everyone by having a dark angel of Hell in Steve Banon so close to the seat of power. If moderate Democrats fail to entertain the possibility of cutting their party's losses in the last election, there is absolutely no guarantee that they might not be pushing us all in a direction we don't really want to go.

After all, right wing anger was a major component in getting Trump elected in the first place. Gambling that "kicking Trump's ass" for the next four years won't be throwing more gasoline on an already raging fire is NOT an insignificant raise to an inside straight.

I truly feel sorry for you, Queerbait.

So much anger, so much pain.

Are you still mad at me, Rob?

Are you mad because I said something about your druggie, younger brother stealing your 400 groovy silver-age marvel comics you collected during the 60's & the 70's?

Are you mad because I mentioned your tummy tuck?

Does it anger you that I'm not who you think I am?

Excuse me? We have just witnessed a stunning Republican failure on every possible front. Trump, the "amazing businessman" behind the art of the deal humiliated himself. He may have violated propaganda laws as a cheerleader of this steaming pile of horseshit, proved himself utterly incapable of successful negotiation, and broke his promise to the country with his tail between his legs and his middle fingers up. The "moderate" conservatives, who have done nothing but obstruct obstruct obstruct were forced to show their cards and they have NOTHING. They are a shell game and nothing more.

And you come in here with advice that the Democrats need to be ready to compromise?

Do you really not see it? The GOP is not a thing anymore. It is a scam. They stand for nothing. If the crazy far right starts to make progress, it's because people like you are too cowardly to abandon party lines as the leaders on your side embrace white supremacy.
