The shithole nation of Iran takes the state religion, Islam, very seriously.
Renouncing Mohammed and accepting Jesus Christ as your personal savior is considered a capital offense (apostasy).
The punishment for apostasy in Iran is ceremonial beheading.

Over the years, clandestine Christian evangelists have worked to spread the word of God throughout the Middle East. The major Christian evangelical organizations in the United States demanded....and got...."special religious refugee status" for any Christian Iranian who managed to escape Iran. It is unknown exactly how many Christian Iranians live within the US borders.

MAGA elected Donald J. Trump to deport ALL brown-skinned refugees, and Trump summarily revoked the Iranian special religious refugee status and had the first batch of Iranians deported this week.

There is no commercial air service between the United States and Iran. Military cargo planes, used to deport Venezuelans, would be shot down the moment they entered Iranian airspace. So the United States worked out a deal with Panama, flew the deported Iranians to Panama City and paid the government of Panama to purchase tickets for the Iranian families to fly home to their certain public executions in Teheran.

Coach tickets, of course, why pay extra for people who are going to die in the next week anyway, right?

No doubt Christian evangelicals will be excited at seeing other Christians martyred for their faith. I suspect more than a few will show the executions at Wednesday night Bible study groups!

Jews, Christians and Zoroastrians have their own representatives in the Iranian Parliament, but it's largely window dressing . The religious minorities are very very significantly understated in official Iranian Statistics. I spent some time there, quite a few years ago now, but the worst discrimination seemed to be against Ba'hai and non Shia Moslems. There used to be 100,000 + Iranian Jews, the oldest Jewish settlement in the world but most emigrated to Israel and elsewhere. Pre-Islamic culture is still immensely influential on customs, festivals, literature etc.

Iran is anything but a shithole nation, but it definitely has a shithole theocratic government.

Feminists might appreciate that Shia interpretation of Sharia only requires beating and starving of a female apostate, whereas Sunni interpretation demands beating, starving, and death if she does not repent. Men of course do not get the soft options!

Sending an Iranian resident in USA back to Iran is obscenely stupid for everyone concerned.
