Trump just threatened Jack Smith, and it's not going over well.

The judge laid the groundwork for imprisoning him pending the trial if he can’t behave.

Explicit instructions not to make threats or poison the jury pool are usually reserved for mob prosecutions.

Fuck the traitor. Another country would have dealt with this accordingly. Only in the broken system of the US is this shit permitted to happen

^^^
For the record, I think this is working. 🤣
Once this goes through the way I think it's going through, we will see that bastard in handcuffs, fingerprinted and mug photo'd like everyone else and it won't be an AI generated artwork.

That judge is not fucking around with him and he knows it.

so, clearly team trump's mission is to convince at least one of the jurors at his upcoming trial that trump really really REALLLLLLY believed he won the election and so wasn't telling a lie... to tell a lie means he must have known it wasn't true. Looks like eastman's boosting this story for his own benefit, too, even though we know he didn't even believe it himself. Desperation, fellas, desperation.

I am probably wrong to judge Eastman's position from the headline, but if he is justifying their conspiracy by appealing to the DoI isn't that admitting they were encouraging an insurrection? The DoI is primarily a moral justification for insurrection. Not sure that is a good plan if your insurrection was less than a success.

Fox News anchor Julie Banderas on Monday struggled to understand why it would be illegal for former President Donald Trump to attempt to stay in office even after losing an election to President Joe Biden.
"I want to talk about Trump's alleged crimes for a second. He hasn't been indicted with incitement, we know that. So, it's not a crime to tell lies. Being a narcissist is not a crime. Hatching schemes to stay in office is not a crime. And claiming you won an election that you know you lost is not a crime."

the article added:
In fact, trying to illegally occupy that office of the presidency after losing an election is illegal.

A lawyer at the center of former President Trump’s efforts to overturn the results of the 2020 presidential election is asking a California judge to delay disbarment proceedings against him, suggesting that he expects to face federal criminal charges.
Attorneys for Trump lawyer John Eastman asked the California court to delay proceedings that could strip Eastman of practicing law in the state until after the case against Trump is resolved. Trump was federally indicted and arraigned last week on charges linked to his alleged plot to stay in power after losing the 2020 presidential race.

trump attorney tries to spin trump's court trial as 'the most important civil rights case in decades'

his idea being that it's all a gross attack on trump's civil liberties, ignoring the fact that it was the people's 'right' to have their votes counted

In reality, the rapey, racist, misogynistic, corrupt orange traitor is just a major criminal being treated like a major criminal. - This may well be the most important organized crime case in decades, but nothing more than that.

The orange POS played mob boss while in public office, and continued the act after leaving public office.

If the bullshit DOJ “policy” of not indicting a sitting President wasn’t in place, the corrupt orange traitor would very likely already be in prison. Robert Mueller basically said as much.

JFC

SAD!!!

trump rages at Judge Chutkan, demanding she recuse herself or be removed since there's no way, he claims, she'll give him a fair trial...same old same old, but it's unlikely to make any ripples.
if his attorneys weren't such turds i could almost feel sorry for them

David Sklansky, a Stanford Law professor and co-director of the university’s Criminal Justice Center, said Chutkan is an “experienced judge” unlikely to be fazed by Trump’s comments. Suggestions she should be disqualified or made to recuse are “ridiculous,” he said.

“There’s absolutely no basis for that,” Sklansky said. “I will be interested to see whether any of Trump’s lawyers are willing to make that suggestion; it’s such a crazy suggestion from a legal standpoint.”
John Lauro, one of the attorneys representing Trump in the D.C. case, said on a podcast with Florida defense attorney David Markus that he is still assessing the potential for a motion to seek the judge’s recusal.

“I need to take a hard look at this issue from a legal perspective and want to make sure it is correctly and exhaustively analyzed. So, we’ve made no final decision on that issue. It has to be really looked at with a fine-toothed comb. It raises a lot of issues,”
Lauro said.
"it rises a lot of issues", lol. you betcha!

lol, more from lauro, different link:

"I think as lawyers we have to be very careful of those issues and handle them with the utmost delicacy," Lauro continued. "I think it's a little bit different than our standard case where we would pull our hair out if a client commented on a prosecutor or a judge. He feels strongly that he needs to speak out, and he also, in particular, looks at this prosecution as a political prosecution. I think, in his mind, it's sort of fair game from a political perspective to make these comments."
a little different, & 'in his mind'... they probably want to bash their brains out against a wall :coffee:

"I have a responsibility, certainly, as an officer of the court to conduct the proceedings in a dignified manner, and I will do that at all times," Lauro added. "To the extent that I can make any appropriate suggestions to a client, I do. But as we know, David, sometimes clients follow our suggestions, sometimes they don't."
translates as "he never fucking listens!!!!!!!!!!!! arghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!"

Donald Trump’s attorneys asked a federal judge on Tuesday to delay their oral arguments over the scope of a protective order governing the handling of evidence related to the former president's attempts to overturn the 2020 election.

Late on Monday, U.S. District Judge Tanya Chutkan ordered attorneys for Special Counsel Jack Smith and Trump to agree upon a date on or before Friday.

Despite Judge Chutkan ordering attorneys to set a date before Friday, team trump's requesting a delay till next week since they want both their attorneys there and one of them will be busy friday thursday dealing with another case against trump. aw, bless. trump won't be attending this next court date but that was to be expected.

while no gag order has been requested or granted, lauro still wants a broader scope to the permissions put forward by Team Jack, including allowing UNPAID volunteers (cheapskates!) to be able to look at "sensitive materials". Now who would these unpaid volunteers be, hmn? Are we talking interns, or people who shouldn't have access to this kind of material in case of deliberately revealing what is meant for court eyes only?
Trump’s attorney John Lauro wants a more permissive order that would let even the legal team’s unpaid volunteers view “sensitive materials,” which they want prosecutors to mark “conspicuously” — and define narrowly. Lauro specifically asked to strike language barring the disclosure of recordings of witness interviews, suggesting that the defense seeks permission to disseminate them under certain circumstances.

New security measures have been implemented for U.S. District Judge Tanya Chutkan, the federal judge overseeing former President Donald Trump's election conspiracy case. CNN reported an uptick in security for the judge on Monday, as well as talks for security plans. "Ensuring that judges can rule independently and free from harm or intimidation is paramount to the rule of law, and a fundamental mission of the USMS," spokesperson Drew Wade told CNN. "While we do not discuss our specific security measures, we continuously review the measures in place and take appropriate steps to ensure the integrity of the federal judicial process."

Christie's saying he thinks meadows has flipped. He could be right, or maybe he's hiding as best he can from trump and his mobsters

“I’ve said all along I think Mark Meadows is already a cooperating witness,” Christie told CNN’s Anderson Cooper on Monday. “He has all the looks of a cooperating witness, running into coffee shops away from the press.”

“He was a very involved chief of staff, in my experience,” Christie said. “He made sure he was in every meeting and every conversation. And we remember, there are hundreds of text messages that he turned over to the special counsel that he kept.”
Christie said that Meadows could deliver the “worst testimony” against Trump of anyone other than family members.

i'll add this here, too: look to see if meadows is indicted or not. that might speak volumes. of course, he might just get a vastly reduced charge/s after saving his own skin. I don't condemn him for doing it (if he has): trump deserves no loyalty.
