Donald Trump may destroy the Republican Party. It's hard to see how they come back from this.

One should not evaluate a political message by the effect it has on oneself, but by the effect it has on its chosen audience. I hate Trump, but I can understand his appeal. Like Rush Limbaugh he tells angry white men lies they want to believe. There is no future in factory work, but Trump tells unemployed factory workers he will bring back factories. In any factories Trump brings back with his tariffs most of the work will be done by factory robots.

Trump's core constituency consists of the same white men who are dying deaths of despair.
