Trump fucks up again. Ukraine negotiation goes sideways

And Witkoff is a clown. I'm not sure who he expects to believe this nonsense. There is no ceasefire. There is no "ban" on striking Ukraine's energy sector. Pure delusion.

Trump and Putin had a call. Putin loaded the ceasefire with conditions Ukraine will not agree too, basically tellig Trump to fuck right off. Buit it was "a great call...a magnificent call...a step towards world peace." rotflmao. Like fuck it was.

47 explained how Canada is a filthy place that deserves to lose it's sovereignty and in the next breath explains how we should do more trade with Russia.

LOL. "There is no F35 kill switch."

When countries purchase the American-made F-35 fighter jet, they aren't just buying an aircraft—they're subscribing to an ecosystem. The F-35 isn't merely a stealth jet with superior aerodynamics; its true power lies in its ability to network, process, and act on actionable intelligence. Without this network, the F-35's value diminishes significantly. In this sense, owning an F-35 is less about military hardware and more about subscribing to an American-led defense architecture.

The Subscription Model Analogy

Imagine buying a state-of-the-art smartphone, but its full functionality is locked behind a subscription service. The hardware is impressive, but the value lies in the constant updates, cloud services, and access to a broader network. Without the subscription, you're left with a device that underperforms and slowly becomes obsolete. The F-35 operates in much the same way.

The initial purchase of the F-35—the jet itself—is like the upfront cost of buying that smartphone. It's expensive, sleek, and impressive. However, the true operational capability only comes with continuous access to:
  • Software Updates: The F-35 is driven by complex software systems that require constant updates to maintain operational effectiveness, security, and functionality. Without these updates, the jet's capabilities degrade over time. The updates come from Lockheed-Martin. Only Israel has an agreement whereby they can make their own software changes.
  • Actionable Intelligence: The F-35 is designed to integrate seamlessly with U.S. and allied ISR (Intelligence, Surveillance, Reconnaissance) networks. Without access to this data stream, much of the F-35's advantage in situational awareness disappears. As the USA cutting off intelligence to Ukraine illustrates, this can vanish on a political whim. Access is not contractually guaranteed.
  • Maintenance and Parts: The jet relies on a tightly controlled supply chain managed by the U.S. and its defense contractors. Ongoing maintenance, replacement parts, and technical support are essential to keeping the aircraft mission-ready.
  • Security Patches: Cybersecurity is crucial for a data-heavy platform like the F-35. The U.S. controls the security protocols and patches, meaning any vulnerability is managed centrally.
Each of these elements functions as a component of the "subscription." Lose access to any of these, and the value of the F-35 is severely diminished.

So no, there is no actual "kill-switch." But Trump has killed off the USA's reputation as a reliable ally in a couple of weeks, and has already killed F35 sales internationally, whether Lockheed-Martin likes it or not. They can talk about kill-switches all they like, but they can't unsay Trump's words and actions.

We have a few Canadian friends and, ancedotally, they are fucked right off by Trump. On top of that, the Conservatives were set to win the next elections, but Trump all by himself has pretty much guaranteed a Liberal win - and he's outright said he prefers the Liberals because they're easier for him to negotiate with.

I'm not so sure about that now, but all my friends are Conservatives and they are really pissed with Trump. Whichever way the Canadian election goes, Trump has fucked over that relationship with Canada as well. That was the outgrowth of seven decades of post WW2 negotiations and working together, and Trump's pretty much destroyed it. Canada will look to the EU and to Asia from now on, and they'll work to grow trade and relationships in that direction as insurance. China and the EU both are big markets for Canadian resources, and all else aside, they are one giant source of raw materials.

Ceasefire? What ceasefire?

On 18 March, during a phone conversation, Russian President Vladimir Putin supported US President Donald Trump’s proposal for a mutual 30-day suspension of strikes on energy infrastructure. However, no agreement was reached on the pause in fighting on the Ukrainian front lines and Russia’s Kursk Oblast, as proposed by Ukraine. Later that day, Russia launched 150 drones on Ukraine on energy objects and several hospitals.

Kremlin spokesperson blamed Kyiv for “failing to reciprocate” by allegedly attacking a Russian oil facility in Krasnodar Krai, however the Russian forces also launched a massive attack at Ukraine overnight, breaking ceasefire deal. Russian defense officials also asserted they have even gone so far as to intercept seven of its own drones in the air after President Putin ordered a temporary ceasefire following the US-Russia negotiations.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy challenged Russia’s narrative, stating that “Putin’s words greatly diverge from reality.” “The Russians said they immediately ordered a cessation of strikes […], but right now air raid sirens are sounding in Ukraine,” Zelensky told journalists. While not specifying locations, Zelenskyy confirmed that energy facilities were among the targets in recent Russian attacks at Ukraine. Regional authorities reported specific incidents, including damage to two medical facilities in Sumy Oblast and a warehouse in Poltava Oblast from drone debris.

The Ukrainian President added that he believes direct communication with President Trump would be necessary to clarify “the details of what the Russians proposed to the Americans, or what the Americans proposed to the Russians.”

In other words, Trump was blowing smoke out his ass, Putin is lying, as per Russian standard practice, and Witkoff is busy repeatimg Russian lies. The only people who believe a word Putin says are Trump and his sycophants.

Trump has nearly guaranteed a Liberal majority. Which is the last thing I want. But PP has been far to fucking chummy to Trump and his ideals. So unlike you, I'll hold my nose and vote Liberal this election. Fuck Trump!! Fuck the USA for electing Trump.

LOL. There is no ceasefire, partial or otherwise. Nobody has agreed to anything. This exists in Trump's mind, and obviously in Walz's, but nowhere else. Trump is gettung as divorced from reality on this as Biden was - and at least Biden had no delusions about Russia.

LOL. Well, I won't be voting in Canada at all....but I suspect you and quite a few others given those last polls. Trump has screwed over Pierre as well as Canadians in general

Germany's of the Leash......

Well, I guess Trump got his wish. Germany will spend more on defence. Like, a LOT more. Germany’s Massive Spending Bill Challenges Kremlin for European Military Dominance. The world’s third-largest economy is about to be turned loose on defense. Kyiv is slotted for beefier support, but Germany’s giant rearmament plan is about Russia not just Ukraine.

Lawmakers in Germany’s lower legislative house, the Bundestag, on Wednesday approved a massive defense spending bill that could put Germany on the path of rivaling Russia for military dominance of the continent. The ultimate size of the pot of German taxpayer money now freed up for more German combat units, equipment, intensified training, and increased armaments production and assistance to Ukraine is tied to state borrowing limits linked to the size of Germany’s approximate $4.7 trillion GDP. But whatever the final figure, it will break records and end Germany’s status as a European state with a giant economy and tiny military.

The legislation approved by a comfortable 513-207 vote in favor designated future German defense and security spending as not subject to strict, constitutionally linked deficit spending limits. Defense spending funded by borrowing, if necessary, may exceed the equivalent 1% of Germany’s GDP, the majority agreed. Germany’s upper house, the Bundesrat, still has to approve the bill for it to become law. Party factions there are similar to the lower house, and the legislation is generally expected to pass in a vote scheduled for Friday.

With the world’s third-biggest economy, Germany in 2023 had a GDP of around $4.53 trillion. Although the exact amount of borrowing Germany does would depend on future government decisions on whether a program or weapons system is needed, and industry’s capacity to produce it, theoretically, the bill once law would make legal immediate German state borrowing of at least an additional $470 billion for defense and associated needs, and more credit-funded defense spending as Germany’s economy expands. The bill was strongly supported by major parties from the left, center, and center-right and opposed by the right and far right. The vote passed comfortably the two-thirds quorum (489) needed to approve changes to national borrowing “debt brake” limits.

I guess someone forgot what happened the last time Germany seriously upped their military game.....good one, Donald.

Moscow: Ukraine attack on oil depot defies Trump-Putin ceasefire deal

rotflmao. Apparently Ukraine has broken a non-existent ceasefire that exists only in Trump's head. "However, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov stated that while Moscow is honouring the agreement, Ukraine is not." Moscow never accepted the ceasefire. Their "acceptance" came with a pile of demands which equated to Ukraine capitulating to their invasion. While the supposed call with Trump was ongoing, Moscow launched hundreds of drones and missiles directly at Ukraine's civilian populations and energy infrastructure.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said his country supports the proposal but needs more details. He noted that the information released after the call does not specify when the suspension of airstrikes on energy infrastructure is set to begin. It seems nobody has talked to Ukraine about the ceasefire, and certainly Russia, with their ongoing terrorist attacks on Ukrainian civilians, is taking no notice of this. The Russian Defence Ministry claimed it immediately ceased attacks on Ukrainian energy targets following Putin’s order. Probably because they missed and hit hospitals instead.

Meanwhile, Ukrainian authorities reported casualties and injuries from overnight Russian airstrikes, including severe damage to a hospital.

LOL. Time Russia got a taste of their own medicine. Oh, and the Russian Oil Refinery at Krasnodar is STILL burning nicely, a couple of days after it an explosive discussion with a Ukrainian peace delegation.

Almost 900,000 Russians KIA and WIA.....should hit 1,000,000 by the end of May. The demographic impact of this war on Russia is going to be shattering. This doesn't include the impact of all the educated Russian men who've managed to do the chicken run and get out.

Ukraine never agreed to the deal.

It's like the US after Trump left the Iran deal trying to enforce the deal claiming Iran violated it.

Putin is the latest in a long line of Russian despots whose concern is only for self and not for the thousands upon thousands of Russian lives lost in pursuit of his vision of glory.

Stalin didn't care how many Russians died in WWII (after initially siding with Hitler) so long as each one used up at least one German bullet. Putin is the same.

The one abiding fear VP has is that of losing power... because he knows that then all the wronged people of Russia will come looking for him. As with Putin, so with Donny boy... and therefore we are looking at the end of fair and free elections in the USA.

Putin will inevitably eat a lead pill or succumb to poloniou tea, win or lose. There's only one way out of the job once you continue the way he has....

I just hope he gets Ceaucescu'd

Ukraine-Russia war latest: Huge blast at key airbase for Russian nuclear bombers after Ukrainian drone strike

Ukraine has launched a major drone assault on an airbase deep inside Russia that is key to the relentless missile attacks against Ukrainian cities by Vladimir Putin’s forces.

The strike on the Soviet-era Engels airfield, which houses a number of Russia’s nuclear-capable heavy bombers and stores of cruise missiles, sparked a huge explosion and multiple fires.

The blast came after Volodymyr Zelensky said Russia’s continued strikes on Ukraine show their “true attitude towards peace” in the wake of another 170 drones being launched at targets across the country.
