Former President Donald Trump endorsed Dr. Mehmet Oz in Pennsylvania's Senate GOP primary.

Known for his "Dr. Oz Show," which he shut down to focus on his campaign, the surgeon was not a shoo-in for the Trump nod. Oz's Republican rival, hedge fund CEO David McCormick, also had Trump's ear.

McCormick's wife, Dina Powell, served as a deputy national security adviser to the former president.

For once, some Republicans are actually speaking out against Trump on this. They feel Oz is insufficiently right-wing. This could get interesting.

Oz doesn't have a chance in Pa....he is being attacked more from Republicans than Dems. The negative adds against him have been running for months.

Dr. Oz Dumps Trump Imagery from Campaign Website in Apparent Distancing from Former President

since trump's endorsement, oz has leaned heavily on it to campaign. now he's won his primary, seems he's scrubbed all mention of trump, all trumpy ads and more, from his sites.

  • After the endorsement, Trump was a near-ubiquitous fixture in Ozā€™s spots ā€” even a series of six-second issue ads on guns, abortion and energy began with ā€œendorsed by President Trump.ā€
  • Both his Facebook and Twitter accounts were emblazoned during the primary with a cover photo of Trump and Oz with the words ā€œendorsed by Trump,ā€ and his website had a pop-up to let visitors know he was ā€œTrump-endorsed.ā€
Ozā€™s apparent shift to the middle of the political spectrum probably will not test support from a traditionally loyal base of Republican voters. But it may anger the former president presuming he gets wind of this, and thatā€™s likely to cost Oz voters more than removing any images from his website.

one grifter using another... how fitting

this may have something to do with Oz trying to dump trump... Fetterman's leading him in the Senate race according to polls by 9 points

The lieutenant governor, who suffered a stroke last month, has a significantly higher net favorability rating. He is viewed favorably by 46 percent of voters and unfavorably by 36 percent for a net 10 percent rating. Oz is viewed favorably by 30 percent of voters and unfavorably by 63 percent for a net of negative 33 percent.

A USA Today Network-Suffolk University poll released last week showed Fetterman with a 9-point lead over Oz.

Fetterman even has some support among Trump-supporters, according to polling data. (Not much, but he doesn't need much in a state Trump lost.) I noticed in Oz' first post-primary ad, he hits the usual dogwhistle notes on violence in the cities, but he avoids the current hot-button issue of transphobia. That certainly won't help him among the deplorables (of which there are many in rural PA, and he'll need very high turnout among them to win).

I am generally skeptical of TV health product salesmen. And he had the shots, so he might just drop dead before inauguration.

He is probably less full of BS than some other famous docs, such as the short guy with glasses and a rough voice.
