Trump went on to say that his approval rating in Israel is the highest “in the world” and that he could “easily” be elected prime minister there.

“Jews have to get their act together and appreciate what they have in Israel — Before it is too late!” he added.

I'll admit I don't have any idea about Jewish organizations, but for 45 to raise hell, someone obviously has some weight. He wouldn't go off unless it was someone with prestige and credibility. I can't see how Jewish Democrats would make him angry

Just google "List of American Jewish politicians," the 50+ Cabinet level people on that list will convince anyone how monumentally stupid Trump's statement was. I suspect that Trump's concern is almost entirely about the work of one American Jew - Merrick Garland; but Trump has just earned himself a powerful bunch of opponents. What an idiot.

What Trump has never understood is that Jewish Americans ARE AMERICANS. Most of them have do varying levels of interest in Israel, but their ideologies and voting behaviors are motivated primarily by their experiences in the United States.

Trump has insinuated multiple times that Jewish Americans essentially have dual citizenship with Israel (his repeated references to Netanyahu as "your prime minister"), which is of course classic anti-Semitism.

I'm not even going to get into the idiocy about how he could be elected Prime Minister of Israel, except to wonder if his delusions of grandeur are now getting literally pathological. (I'm trying to imagine the multiple aneurysms here if Obama had ever kidded around about running for office in Kenya.)

It's a setup. First you insult a community (in this case Jews) with a flurry of bigoted comments, then accuse any of your detractors, prosecutors, etc. of racial bias to deflect resposibility for your actions. He's already done this in NY with James. "She's just racist against White people" is the reason for her to pursue charges against him.
