Trump Appeals to Men Who Suffer From ‘Fragile Masculinity’: Psychologists

The entire relevant sentence reads: "We could not simply do a poll of men, who might not honestly answer questions about their deepest insecurities." I absolutely guarantee if they'd interviewed actual men, you be saying something like 'Of course people aren't going to be honest about that shit'.

What they've done is actually a pretty nifty way around the issue of measuring the concept, and as they state in the article, it's something that's been done before. And no, they didn't 'pull the data out of their arses' - data mining from online information is a pretty new, but also well recognised means of doing research.

Also ... not exactly surprising.

Sure are a lot of defensive, triggered men reacting to an article they clearly didn't read. :D

Is anyone truly surprised that a thread with "Fragile Masculinity" in teh title would have Timmeh as teh most frequent pister?

I've noticed a lot of the gun-toting he-men Obama-hating uber-Trumpers on here have a thing for being cuck'ed, an attraction to she-males, and like to be sexually humiliated if you look at their post history. Just sayin'

I can absolutely guarantee that your guarantee isn't anything of the sort.

Had the researchers designed a questionaire that was credible, they might have found out some rather interesting facts that (I'm supposing here) weren't included in their "internet vs reality" correlation.

One fact that possibly failed to make an appearance is that approx half the country in any geographic area is "anti-Trump". One could legitimately conclude that half the "internet searches" were conducted by those "anti-Trump" denizens. Not having read the article (click bait remember?) I don't know if they reduced their findings by 50% before assigning the arbitrary values to the results.

From there, how do you get from "supplements and enhancements" to "Trump voters fear for their masculinity"? Do progressives (who are probably into a good sex life like most normal people) also not want sex toys/performance? Are THEY also "afraid for their masculinity"?

It's junk science. You fell for it because you want it to be real, not because it is.

That's not the same everywhere.

Tell it to Beto. Texas is red, supports Trump overwhelmingly, and half of Cruz's District voted D. IF that's one of the areas in the "correlation", (I'm not going to call it a scientific finding), then are THOSE voters also "afraid"?

Deflect, wiggle and squirm all you want, reality is a bitch.

That's a lot of analysis from someone who didn't read the article.

Par for the course.

Do you have anything to refute it? Or are you just throwing stones from your hiding place behind the curtain?

I had rightguide/vetteman in the office pool, with potential for bonus points if he blamed the ‘left’, ‘Democrats’, or ‘Obama’ in a post where he also references poop or buttsex. :(

That's quite the hedge, brosef. That's every single one of his posts.

Now to be fair he used to post pics of his travels that were actually pretty cool. He's a passable photographer. About the best thing I can say about him.

So, you been looking for that kinda thing? Sort of seems like it from what you just posted about you "noticing" and all.

You holding out on us about your secret perversions? Because you do know this is almost 2019 and staying in the closet isn't required anymore.

Some people find the Stern Father archetype very appealing. (IMO, to the point where the archetype blinds them of the meriad faults the person cloaking themselves in it actually has. Same thing occurs to people who find the Strega Nona very appealing.)

Who really cares why?

All I care about is that archetypes of all sorts are all instances of “magical thinking” that get in the way of critical thinking, and the woes of modernity need critical thinking to fix.

(Totally unrelated, my phrases of the day are “neuromuscular euphoria” and “hedonic hotspots,” because I’m writing about a dispassionate robot (Star-Trek style) trying to give her owner a mind blowing sexual experience, and her dirty talk needs much work.)

Ha - that would be an interesting bit of research.

Critiquing a methodological approach without actually reading the methodological approach.
You're really winning at 'proper science' there.

Do you have anything to refute it? Or are you just throwing stones from your hiding place behind the curtain?

So YOU can't be bothered reading the research to prove your supposition, but anyone refuting the critique that you've basically pulled out of your arse should?
Not only winning at science, but also winning at debating.

When some particularly nasty flag waving asshole shows up to say something putrid against Obama and pro-Trump, I look at their post history and sure enough, there's the chicks with dicks thing and the cuck thing.

I don't care about people's secret perversions. I just find it interesting that these he-men Trumpers are so often whiny and submissive sexually.

It's as if they're compensating for something.
