Wrestling Vista into submission on a friend's computer.

Happy, Darlin!!!!!!!! Sooooo good to see you pop in :nana:

You would be doing your friend a favor to remove Vista and go back to XP - Vista is just bad. Best thing you can say about it is that it has lead many to the Mac :D

.... begin ramble....

8 days from now I'll be driving him to a small school in central Illinois and leaving him there. Of course I know that this is an amazing time in his life, but of course you all know it's all about me. ;) I'm feeling a tad bit like Sybil these days, I have so many conflicting emotions running through me it's fucking with my head. This feels so very different from when my oldest went off to college. Probably because he was only 1.5 hours away and I could hop in the car and go to him if need be. This son will be 7 hours away. 7. *sigh*

Congrats to you, J #2. (He graduated 3rd in his class with a GPA of 4.6 and received the highest scholarship his college awards to incoming students. Yes, I'm bragging, so sue me.) Saying I'm proud of him is such an understatement. I have no doubt in my mind that he will accomplish anything he sets his mind to. He will be majoring in Psychology and if that's what he ends up becoming, he will make a mint on his father's side of the family alone. *snort*

Ok... I'm done now...

.... end ramble....

Miss you guys.

Well I'm not sure my husband would appreciate me asking if we can take a detour, so maybe if I come by myself one of these days. ;)

Thanks Oman. He does take after his mom. ;)

I'm pleased that you're still happy to see me. Clearly I don't spend enough time here.

In fact, it turns out that there is a hardware problem and the computer is under warranty. A tech will be out to fix it next week. Vista was factory loaded so I want to be careful about screwing up her warranty. I will, however explore the possibility of having their tech dump Vista and get old faithful installed by said tech. Thereby preserving the Warranty. We'll see.

If it weren't a brand new computer I would be encouraging her to make the Macswitch. She is the type of computer user that would benefit from the Mac I'm sure. She doesn't have any feelings for "computing" she just wants the damn thing to work.

No, you do not spend nearly enough time here - you have been neglecting us *sniff sniff*

Dumping Vista can be a major pain in the ass. I have heard that is requires formatting the HD several times with Linux to get rid of the little bugger before you can even think of installing XP.

Macs are indeed impressive. I brought my first with some scholarship $$; when it arrived, I unpacked it, plugged it in and it magically set itself up - totally blew my socks off! I just purchased a refurb iBook and I absolutely love the little guy :) I've had a Mac now close to 3 years and the only time I had to open it up was when I added additional memory. My PC on the other hand, sits with the case permanently opened as I always seem to be tweaking something.

And clearly I haven't talked to you in way too long.

Clearly you haven't been here in way too long ;) We miss you!

As each little birdie leaves the nest, the emotional turmoil seems to get worse - and the youngest is the most painful. A Mom spends all those years taking care of those babies, raising them to be independent, contributing members of society - and when the goal is reached, she kinda feels lost. I manage a number of websites for local art groups and they are filled with women that needed something to fill up the days. Upside is after about 6 months, they really start enjoying their new found freedom ;)

I had an affair with a good friends girl.
She was a big flirt but beatiful and loved making out
I felt awful but it didn't stop me
She'd kinda thro herself at me when he wasn't around
Then they finally got married and that was the end of that

:D Words do get in the way :D Ok, you are here by my official bad boy - what bad things have you been doing?

talking to you for starters..............which I like!!!!!!!!!!!!! what bad do you want to here about????;)

To touch and be touched is a basic need for life - babies will fail to thrive on just about every level without touch and it isn't something we out grow.

A few hours together a week is a great start! Remember to stand your ground for what is important to you - no woman likes a doormat no matter how bossy she appears to be. :rose:

KK! Wondered where you had gone, but figured you'd pop back up when you were ready.

Sorry to hear things didn't work out with Cube. At least you can say you did all you could to try and save the relationship. All of us are here for you Babe :rose:

Law of averages says you should get at least 1 of those 3 jobs - gotta work on your positive thinking. Remember the universe returns what you send out. If what it hears is "not", that is what you get ;)

Hi TCers

Confessions:

My heart is healing, but I still have strong bouts of sadness.:(

Still cannot seem to get up and get things done.

I'm in love with the most wonderful 'Man.:D

Jenny! Good to see you :rose: Hon, these things take time - and depression can be a bitch to deal with. My last bout caused me to seek out alternative treatments - all those pills can't be good for the body. Anyway, I stumbled across a CD at Edmond's Scientific that really helped. It's the weirdest thing to listen to, but it stimulates the chemicals in the brain's pleasure area. PM me if you are interested.

Update

As usual, I still lurk and read, but still follow my own advice nd try not to prove myself a fool. <grin>

KK...Hang in there. "This too shall pass" and other banal words of support. Long and short, it stinks to go through, but you will get through it and survive well. Don't be surprised if weird emotions and stuff you thought was "put away" comes up to bite you on the ass. The teeth marks go away.

Confessions of a sort.....

Still working weekend nights in administration and still love the job. I still pick up 2-3 extra shifts per week to maintain my insanity.

My kiddo is freakin 11 yrs old.....and I am so not ready for it. Luckily she has a good head on her shoulders...and an ounce or two of my temperament. She'll be fine.

I start work on my MSN- Family Practice (Primary Care) with additional course work in Education, Administration, and Acute Care. Should keep my happy behind off the streets and out of trouble for about the next three years or so. When I am done, I will be able to sit for ARNP and the national nursing educators certification exams.

In the past six weeks I have added about 30 people to my family network...My half-sister found me. We got to spend an incredible week getting to know each other and her husband and kids. I have multiple aunts/uncles/cousins/a niece and two nephews with one more baby on the way. All in all a very wonderful and exciting gift!

Glad to see so many old and new names around here.
