No luck yet on the job front, will have to expand the search into other towns within driving distance. I really, really don't want to have to drive an hour and a half to Edmonton (and then back again) every day but that's what it might come to.

I knew about the spider one already, and it doesn't bother me at all. I'm much more disturbed that Michael Jackson owns the rights to a state anthem, personally. I also still dispute number 18, as there are some fish, and insects, that can see behind themselves without turning anything, and I dispute that only 7% of the population is left handed. :p

A Woodworker took his old duck to the Veterinarian, concerned because the duck wouldn't eat. The Vet explained to the man that as ducks age their upper bills grow down over their lower bills, and make it difficult for the animal to pick up it's food.

"What you need to do is gently file the upper bill down, even with the lower bill. But you must be extra careful because the duck's nostrils are located in the upper bill and if you file down too far, when the duck takes a drink of water it'll drown."

The man goes about his business and about a week later the Vet runs into his patient.

"Well, how is that duck of yours?" the Vet inquires.

"He's dead." declared the heartbroken man.

"I told you not to file his upper bill down too far! He took a drink of
water and drowned didn't he?" insisted the Vet.

"No." lamented the man. "I think he was dead before I took him out of the vise."
 
Pfizer Corp. is making an announcement today that Viagra will soon be available in liquid form and will be marketed by Pepsi Cola as a power beverage suitable for use as a mixer. Pepsi's proposed ad campaign claims it will now be possible for a man to literally pour himself a stiff one. Obviously we can no longer call this a soft drink. This additive gives new meaning to the names of cocktails, highballs and just a good old fashioned stiff drink. Pepsi will market the new concoction by the name of Mount & Do.

Cant argue about fish or birds, both taste good if prepaired properly ;) And I thought the statement about the lefties was a bit wacked.....but in the interest of conversation, posted it anyway.

ROAD TO INNER PEACE

I am passing this on because it definitely worked for me, and we all could use more calm in our lives.

By following the simple advice I heard on a Dr.Phil show, I have finally found inner peace. Dr. Phil proclaimed "The way to achieve inner peace is to finish all the things you've started." So I looked around my house to see all the things I started and hadn't finished, and before leaving the house this morning, I finished off a bottle of Merlot, a bottle of White Zinfandel, a bottle of Bailey's, a bottle of Kahlua, a package of Oreos, the remainder of both Prozac and Valium prescriptions, the rest of the cheesecake, some saltines and a box of chocolates. You have no idea how freaking good I feel. Please pass this on to those you feel who are in need of inner peace

The aluminum cap referred to in this article is actually an aluminum tip on top of the capstone. While most people don’t know about the words they may not even notice them if they where to sit at eye level with the top of the monument. The aluminum tip on which the words are inscribed is little more than 51/2 inches at the base and just shy of 9 inches high. Remember aluminum had barely reached mass production in 1884 when the capstone was set.

All four sides of the tip have inscriptions. Three are mostly of historical record such as the names of the Joint Commission members at the time of the setting of the capstone. The fourth was given to the wishes of the stonemasons who were responsible for the primary structure. These masons were nearly all Free and Accepted Masons who were want to use the Latin form for much of their ritualistic phrasing at that time. Most were probably of the Grand Lodge of Free and Accepted Masons of the District of Columbia who also anointed the cornerstone with corn, wine, and oil, before pronouncing it sound. Their wishes for the fourth side were, Laus Deos.

L’Enfant’s plan for the grand mall had no religious inference in it and the cross is simply a byproduct of a symmetrical design laid out along two major north-south and east-west axes. In fact, the Lincoln and Jefferson memorials weren’t conceived until the 20th century.

Many of the inscriptions on the memorial stones do indeed include religious sentiments; they reflect the tenor of public thought in mid-19th century America not the America of George Washington’s time. The cornerstone wasn’t set until 1848 and the capstone 36 years later. Washington died in 1799 and the country he helped found was much different half a century later.

The Bible contributed by the Bible Society was placed in the cornerstone with nearly one hundred other items including Walton’s Vermont Register and Farmer’s Almanac, 1848.

The Prayer:

it’s not a prayer, it's the last paragraph of a circular letter dated 8 June 1783, addressed to the governors of the thirteen states by General Washington upon his disbanding of the Continental Army. The paragraph was removed from its original context and modified to make it sound as if it were composed as a stand-alone prayer. Also note that in Washington’s time the term “earnest prayer” also meant “earnest wish”, not necessarily a prayer in a literal sense


This is the original paragraph:

Now I make it my earnest prayer that God would have you and the State over which you preside, in His holy protection, that He would incline the hearts of the citizens to cultivate a spirit of subordination and obedience to government, to entertain brotherly affection and love for one another, for their fellow citizens and the United States at large, and particularly for their brethren who have served in the field, and finally, that He would most graciously be pleased to dispose us all to do justice, to love mercy and to demean ourselves with that charity, humility and pacific temper of mind which were the characteristics of the Divine Author of our blessed religion and without an humble imitation of whose example in these things we can never hope to be a happy nation. This is the modified paragraph:

Keeping in mind that Washington was a Free Mason and that the society of Free Masonry in Washington’s time was a much darker and secretive society than it is even today. How To Save Your Own Life and Maybe Someone Else's

Is It a Stroke? This might be a lifesaver if we can remember the three questions!

Sometimes symptoms of a stroke are difficult to identify. Unfortunately, the lack of awareness spells disaster. The stroke victim may suffer brain damage when people nearby fail to recognize the symptoms of a stroke. Now doctors say a bystander can recognize a stroke by asking three simple
questions:

*Ask the individual to smile.

*Ask him or her to raise both arms.

*Ask the person to speak a simple sentence.

If he or she has trouble with any of these tasks, call 9-1-1 immediately and describe the symptoms to the dispatcher.

After discovering that a group of nonmedical volunteers could identify facial weakness, arm weakness and speech problems, researchers urged the general public to learn the three questions. They presented their conclusions at the American Stroke Association's annual meeting last February. Widespread use of this test could result in prompt diagnosis and treatment of the stroke and prevent brain damage.

Heart Attack Self Help

A cardiologist says if everyone who reads this and sends it to 10
people; you can bet that at least one life will be saved.

Let's say it's 6:15 p.m. and you're driving home (alone, of course) after an unusually hard day on the job. You're really tired, upset and frustrated. Suddenly you start experiencing severe pain in your chest that starts to radiate out into your arm and up into your jaw. You are only about five miles from the hospital nearest your home. Unfortunately, you don't know if you'll be able to make it that far. You have been trained in CPR, but the guy that taught the course did not tell you how to perform it on yourself.

HOW TO SURVIVE A HEART ATTACK WHEN ALONE

Since many people are alone when they suffer a heart attack, without help, the person whose heart is beating improperly and who begins to feel faint, has only about 10 seconds left before losing consciousness. However, these victims can help themselves by coughing repeatedly and very vigorously. A deep breath should be taken before each cough, and the cough must be deep and prolonged, as when producing sputum from deep
inside the chest. A breath and a cough must be repeated about every two seconds without letup until help arrives, or until the heart is felt to be beating normally again. Deep breaths get oxygen into the lungs and coughing movements squeeze the heart and keep the blood circulating. The squeezing pressure on the heart also helps it regain normal rhythm. In this way, heart attack victims can get to a hospital.
 
Morning all and happy Saturday!

It is soooooooo good to see Happy around these parts again......gives us hope that perhaps a few others that are absent will return.......and I can stop relying on my Uncle for posting material ;)

Been a draining week for me.....body is showing it's displeasure for me pushing it so hard. Actually fell yesterday at work - I'm not sure which was worse...the entense pain of a twisted knee or the embarassment of having a group of coworkers witness the event. :rolleyes: But I do have several new booboos if anyone would like to kiss and make better ;)

I'm spending the weekend in the usual place........upside to it is Santa delivered a late gift yesterday....my long awaited graphics tablet! It should make my life in the image world so much easier......drawing with a mouse is choppy at best. Slowly, but surely my studio is coming together....all the big ticket items have been bought and paid for......and things are starting to come together with the career change. If I can survive the 14-18 hour days a few months longer, I will be well one my way :D My mantra this term is "you are only one step away from having everything you want".
