It's been a while, so here are a few confessions:

- Even though I have a job waiting for me in Nashville, i just finished putting together a resume and portfolio. My goal? a top tier international firm in London, NYC, or Chicago.

- I have managed to get laid twice in the last year. Not nearly enough, even though it was multiple times over a weekend each time.

- I am still broke, and having to undergo oral surgery next month. 3 teeth coming out.

- But, on the upside, I am in decent health, and have a good running truck with good tires and working heat and AC.

I doubt this is a confession. It is a rant, pure and simple.

The rant concerns long term relationships. You and your partner have know each other for a long time and are very comfortable with each other. You go out on a Saturday night. She's spent some amount of time getting herself ready to go out and she looks real fine, both from the perspective of what everyone sees and what only you know is underneath. She's been both playful and amorous while she got ready. Needless to say, you're feeling pretty good as well.

You go out. It's a wonderful evening as far as you can tell. You met up with friends and it was just a very pleasant time all around. The evening ends and you head back home. She says its probably time for bed and heads upstairs, you say you'll be right up, put a few dishes in the washer, turn it on and head up yourself, full of anticipation.

You head through the bedroom door just in time to see her wander out of the bathroom in a dingy old t-shirt, all of the pretties obviously in the hamper. She turns out the light, crawls into bed, and says "g'night, dear".

Bloody hell! I can't imagine a couple at the beginning of a relastionship acting in such a cavalier, thoughtless fashion.

I think I need a beer.

Hey CD, very long time no see!

People do have a tendency to take each other for granted...especially in long term relationships. Perhaps she was alot more tired than she realized at the beginning of the evening.

And this brings up a question that has baffled me for a long time. Why does being affectionate and playful have to mean sex that night? Sometimes it's kinda fun to prolong the "dance" even in a long term relationship.
