Alas, holiday rush is on, Oman!!

Thank you for your friendship... it means a lot!!

My friend Lisa found out today that she will probably be having a mastectomy the week after Christmas. They didn't get it all and to assure that it most likely come back is to remove the whole breast.

Bre has such a low white count that they're giving her shots daily to boost it as quickly as possible... anyone going around her must wear a mask to prevent infection!!

I request healing thoughts and prayers sent towards the TN area!!! We need them urgently!!!

There is a void in my life tonight

I lost a friend today, he died this evening, about two hours ago.

We were only related by marriage, on my wifes side, but he was a good man.
We got on well, always have for the last 20 years or so.

My friend was a bricklayer, taught me how to lay bricks, and enabled me to build an extension on the first house I ever owned.
He and his wife would visit often in the summer a few years ago, and we would go to the pub. have a few pints and talk for hours. He, like me enjoyed photography.

I will miss him, tall, erect, his red hair glinting in the evening sunshine.
It was brick dust and cement that killed him I guess, destroyed his lungs.
And I also guess I loved him in a way, even though I am a man, and not gay at all.

WHERE IS EVERYONE???

The last few days have just been so busy ... other than the weekend when I simply collasped (literally ... went to take a nap at 4pm on Saturday and did not get up until 10am on Sunday ... took a nap from 2 to 5 that afternoon and was in bed by 10pm ... (felt great on Monday morning though!!!))

Tanta ... I have been and will continue to send good thoughts and healthy wishes to the TN area ... for your friends and for you as well!! The last thing your friends need is for you to end up under the weather ... and it's all too easy to have that happen when you are worried and stressed! So take your vitamins and ... hard as this sounds, search out something that will make you smile, or better yet laugh yourself silly.

As to my family time ... repeating quietly ... to convince myself

I love my job ... I love my job ... I love my job ... ... I adore my job!

I was supposed to have next week off ... and I was going to use that time to do my long delayed Christmas shopping, relax, get into the festive Christmas mood ... all the more important since the week after was an on-call week (and obviously not one I could take off).

... well ... things have taken a slight detour from the plan ... just minor deviation ...

Instead of being off, I'll flying to Boston on Monday (at least it's not Sunday night) to do some last minute development work on a new platform our company will be installing just after the new year. Hopefully I will get done by Thursday afternoon so I can return home that night or Friday during the day (Friday is, after all, a company holiday )

It's not all bad, my on-call week has been moved back a week so I can take off the week between Christmas and New Year's ... and I'm sure that profusion of envelopes instead of gaily wrapped boxes will be just as appreciated by daughters and wife ...

Yes ... there was just a tinge of venting in the above ... venting here makes it so much easier to smile to my management and say "I'm your man!"

LOL ... as the proverb or was that a warning? goes ... May you live in interesting times!

Hi Tanta.. I don't know the facts regarding your friend's condition (what type of cancer, how progressed etc.) But I have a friend who's been fighting anal/rectal cancer for over a year and I think he's all but licked it... no pun intended. Doctors told him surgery was a MUST. He declined.
He's been using all organic foods, juicing his own feggies and fruits and following a naturopathic lifestyle.. I've watched him go from 93bls to 135 in about 6 months... his color is rich, he runs up the stairs where he used to have difficulty and his tumour has noticebly shrunk.
He's also been using meditation and spiritual healing and I think everything has been a factor in his current condition.
I wish your friend all the very best. Hope this might be some help.
